A gem!
This is a really beautiful hotel fully renovated from an old teak mansion, set in its own gardens.
The pool is spectacular, really adding to the effect as you make your way into the property.
The food was excellent; we tried both their international meals and some Burmese specialities.
The rooms were good: we'd recommend the Governor's Rooms which seemed to be enjoy a better spec than the others, although we did not see a suite.
Service was smiling and efficient.
Unique Quality: Great design in a renovated building; part of the history.
Very helpful staff and excellent food. We enjoyed dining on the outside verandah looking into the lit garden in the evenings.
This really wasn't like a hotel: perhaps because its small (I think about 45 rooms), and beacuse it looks like a large old house.
Despite its colonial name, we were impressed to learn of the hlep the hotel gives to a local orphanage: it's good to know some of your money is going directly to help the less fortunate locals.
