Shining Angkor Boutique Hotel: Accommodating, Relaxing, Clean and Complete

by leahdominguiano

Location
To be honest, location was the least of our concern. We knew that we would still require a transportation to go from one tourist attraction to another. Albeit we have a navigation moxie, we opted to go for the local Tuk-Tuk as means of transportation, and I suggest you do so as well. This will save you time and energy to ride the bicycles here and there.
Nevertheless, the hotel's location is between the major tourist spots ie.e. Angkor Wat and the city. Having visited the city area, I still prefer Shining Angkor Boutique Hotel's location. It is along the main road, yet isolated from the hustle and bustle of the main city.
As night can be too loud in the city, I like this hotel since I prefer to have a goodnight's sleep in my room. But if you prefer to party at night, you definitely have to look for a hotel near the main city.

Room
The room is spacious enough. It was neatly prep when we arrived and everyday when we leave the hotel. The hotel per se is very clean and has that local ambiance which any tourist would appreciate when in a foreign country. The hotel boasts big wooden tables and chairs which you'd immediately notice when you enter the lobby area. Since nobody's allowed to bring their shoes/sandals/slippers inside the hotel, it makes the place clean and tidy.

Staff
Vannak was the one who entertained my inquiry online and he's always been prompt with his response. They also have a staff even in the wee hours of the night and as early as 4am readily available to respond to your concern. All the staff were friendly, from the reception, to the restaurant staff, hotel manager and especially to our tour guide. Most of them can understand basic english but I suggest that you bring maps or names in Khmer if there are locations that you specifically want to visit. Best to show/point to them in the map rather than verbal communication.

Facilities/Amenities
We enjoyed a short dip in their swimming pool. We tried their pool at about 10am but the water was a bit cold so I wasn't really comfortable swimming at that time. The pool was also well-kept. Adjacent to the hotel is their restaurant where they served not so many dishes but the breakfast was acceptable/okay for me.

The aureate thing about the hotel is that they have wifi which made it a lot easier for checking mails. They also have a computer for the guests usage FOC at the second floor. And at the balcony, you can enjoy a relaxing time in their local hammock.

Value
We definitely had our money's worth during the entire stay here in this hotel. You won't be short-changed because you will enjoy every minute of your stay here.

Independence Hotel Sihanoukville: Kennedy's Choice!

by DrunkenTraveller

The Independence hotel in Sihanoukville is a romantic location for all you beach bums! It has its own Private beach where you can just lie on for hours without a sole in sight. Rooms are quite large and has a tea/coffe maker, TV with cable and also a bathroom you can see into if you want, but can also be covered by blinds ;-)This seems to be a popular theme with the more romantic hotels. the breakfast buffet was scrumptious! This was the hotel of choice by Mrs Jackie Kennedy in 1967 and we are proud to have been there for this reason.

The Hotel was quite empty at the time we went, which could probably be off season (May 2011). If you want a more action packed beach with water sports, you can drive down to Independence beach, which has a whole array of water sports activities ranging from usd 15 - 30.

Large rooms and gorgeous private beach

Frangipani villa hotel: Accomodation at Angkor

by DrunkenTraveller

Lovely hotel in the heart of Siam reap. Hotel room contains Minibar,TV, Hot water and Shower. Very comfortable beds and spacious bathroom. Each room has a balcony overlooking the city or pool area. Small pool but just enough to enjoy a cold beer after a long day of visiting the temples. Breakfast basic but good. Staff very friendly and willing to comply with any requests.

Location was fantastic. Only 3 minutes away from pub street and the Quad biking centre. Use a rickshaw to travel around the city but bargain for a good price as they raise the price for tourists.

Phnom Penh: Naga World Hotel & Casino

by swarthmore1

The rooms were large and very clean. The shower was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and always helpful. The breakfast included buffet was the best I ever had. Five star quality for sure. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The greatest breakfast and dinner buffets.

Ta som guest house: Clean hotel at Siem Reap

by Tuna_ank

It was nice 3-4 flats hotel. A family is working there. Apsara dancing salloon and big streets were close but bazaar was far a bit.
It is also Capitol tour Branch office. You may arrange airline- boat-bus tickets, visa etc.

Corridor balconies were nice.

Single Room, Double Occupancy: Asia Hotel

by crisgastardo

The corridors smell cigarette smoke. For non-smokers, don't risk your health here. There are times that the corridors smell septic tank like the toilet and the bathroom. It's unbearable, I tell you. As for amenities, they're okay. And buffet breakfast is relatively good.

Like most hotels, they can arrange you everything, from tour to transport to meals. But if you have a heart for poor souls, better contract directly to transport drivers because hotel personnels seem to share a bigger cut of your pay.

Single Room, Double Occupancy: Angkor Town Hotel

by crisgastardo

Rate does not include breakfast, so it's expensive. Amenities are just wifi access. TV set? an old model 14" box type tv.

GOLDEN HOUSE: GOLDEN HOUSE PHNOM PENH

by sfphototraveller

The room was $ 35 a night. I stayed in room 32. came with mini fridge free breakfast in the lobby-eggs,toast,tea. and free internet they had a computer in the corner by window in the lobby. The Staff was excellent fast service for cooking breakfast. However room 32 is faces the street and across the street is a nightclub that plays music very loud. Bring ear plugs and sleeping pills. Its in a great location places to eat all around within walking distance and tuk tuks all around.
