Phnom Penh: Naga World Hotel & Casino

by swarthmore1

The rooms were large and very clean. The shower was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and always helpful. The breakfast included buffet was the best I ever had. Five star quality for sure. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The greatest breakfast and dinner buffets.

Ta som guest house: Clean hotel at Siem Reap

by Tuna_ank

It was nice 3-4 flats hotel. A family is working there. Apsara dancing salloon and big streets were close but bazaar was far a bit.
It is also Capitol tour Branch office. You may arrange airline- boat-bus tickets, visa etc.

Corridor balconies were nice.

Single Room, Double Occupancy: Asia Hotel

by crisgastardo

The corridors smell cigarette smoke. For non-smokers, don't risk your health here. There are times that the corridors smell septic tank like the toilet and the bathroom. It's unbearable, I tell you. As for amenities, they're okay. And buffet breakfast is relatively good.

Like most hotels, they can arrange you everything, from tour to transport to meals. But if you have a heart for poor souls, better contract directly to transport drivers because hotel personnels seem to share a bigger cut of your pay.

Single Room, Double Occupancy: Angkor Town Hotel

Rate does not include breakfast, so it's expensive. Amenities are just wifi access. TV set? an old model 14" box type tv.

GOLDEN HOUSE: GOLDEN HOUSE PHNOM PENH

by sfphototraveller

The room was $ 35 a night. I stayed in room 32. came with mini fridge free breakfast in the lobby-eggs,toast,tea. and free internet they had a computer in the corner by window in the lobby. The Staff was excellent fast service for cooking breakfast. However room 32 is faces the street and across the street is a nightclub that plays music very loud. Bring ear plugs and sleeping pills. Its in a great location places to eat all around within walking distance and tuk tuks all around.

Different places: Some of my favorite addresses in Siem Reap

by Bernie27

I am now in Siem Reap, Cambodia, and I would like to share some of my favorites addresses with fellow backpackers.
I am french and have been travelling for many years, especially in Asia, my favorite area.
Siem Reap with the famous Angkor Wat temples is a really fun place, not like the big cities Phnom Penh or Bangkok… Very Small town, easy to get out and plenty of good places to stay, eat, drink or relax.
My favorites :
Guest house - I stayed at a really nice and clean place, only about 5 minutes walk to Pub Street : Angkor Park Guest House (their website : www.angkorparkguesthouse.com). Rooms starts at 6$/night with fan, bathroom and TV.
Restaurant - Difficult choice, there is probably hundred restaurants in town but I went 3 times ( !) to the same place : The Bengal Tiger restaurant on Pub street, serving Indian food (great), pizzas, western and local… Quite a complete menu and delicious! The most difficult was actually to make a choice.
Fun - Except for the local clubs which I didn’t understand (…), there is not a lot of entertainment places but I have found a pretty fun place : The Laundry Bar, late night bar owned by a French man with many patrons expatriates (always interesting to meet)
Relax time - Asia is a great place for SPAs and massage (clean ones) and there is plenty in Siem Reap too. I had some problems to find a good place at affordable price, it was either super cheap (and, well… not great) or quite expensive. But on the second day I discovered the Lotus Dream SPA, which actually was next door to my guest house (I had look the other way!) and I had a great time there. Good prices, sweet ladies and extremely clean place, also some interesting art on the walls.
Transports – A good bus company to go to the border or to Phnom Penh: Neak Krohom. They have a nice VIP bus service and the price is right too (only 5$ to Phnom Penh, 350 km).
I hope these information can help happy backpackers going to Cambodia…

The Small Hotel: Great comfortable and affordable hotel

by mashed_NZ

I stay here on a regular basis everytime I come to the mainland. It is so reasonably priced at about USD$15 per night with aircon, DVD, free internet and hot showers. The food is fantastic and they have a large menu to choose from. The staff are very friendly and always very helpful in anything you would like to do.

Free internet
DVD players in every room
Hot showers
Moto rental
Great food
Very reasonably priced

Sunway Hotel, Phnom Penh: June 2009: Comfortable Hotel

by tigertribal

Nice hotel with comfortable rooms, good buffet breakfast and friendly staff. Be aware there is no swimming pool.

There was a bit of hassle one morning at breakfast when an old Australian hells angel wearing a Waffen SS t shirt took a strop when there was no milk in the container so he threw it across the table knocking glasses to the floor. The Manager came over to us later on and apologised.

Located beside Wat Phnom Pagoda. Restaurants, bars and shops are within walking distance but we did hire a car to sight-see ie Royal Palace & Silver Pagoda, Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and Choeung Ek Killing Fields. Tuk-tuks are also available.

Recommended.
