New

I believe this hotel is still pretty new. We stayed for just one night after coming back from Siem Reap and I really liked it. Unfortunately, the room we got had an open shower in the bathroom and no tub. The entire room was exceptionally clean and staff was very friendly. They offer rooms with A/C, hot water, refrigerator, and cable TV. The room we got had two queen-sized beds.

TRAIN FROM BATTAMBANG TO PP

by HANSCHOWDHURY

Has anybody done the train from BB TO PP.
I believe it is a 14 hour marathon on hard seats. I also understand it only runs every other day, how do we find out in advance what days it is running????

I would suggest to travel bus than the train. Buses departing Battambang for PP are frequent and rather comfortable.

Check out my Cambodia travel page.

This is much to late to help you but may be helpful to others. The train is still running as of April 2007, but only runs on Saturdays up from P.P. to B.B. and down again on Sunday from B.B. Leaves at 6.40 a.m.We only intended to take it as far as Pursat and even then had to get off before as in 5 hours we had only covered 60/70 kms. If you have the time it is a great experience. See my pages on the train for photos.

Travel Tips for Battambang

ATM's

by Willettsworld

There are a few banks with ATM machines around the Psar Nut (market) right in the middle of town and these dispense US dollars, as this is what Cambodia uses for currency. I used one and was surprised to see that I could withdraw up to $2000 which I found absolutely amazing as the limit for a withdrawal from an ATM back home is around £300 ($500)!

The market

by Fleaartist

Right in the center of the town there is a nice market where you can buy whatever, raincoats, fruit, scarves etc. etc. You can spend a lot of time triyng to bargain with them, they seem to like it a lot.

Tourist Information Office

by Willettsworld

The Tourist Information Office is located in the south of the town, near the Governor's Residence and has the usual maps and info leaflets. The chaps who work here are very nice and I enquired about taking a trip on a norry (bamboo train) and one of them took me on the back of his bike to the railway line a few kilometres south of town and then came along with me for a ride!
