The holiday guest house is located a around 200 meters from the market in Battambang and is down a little quiet alley.
The place is your typical cambodian hotel with clean decent rooms for a very fair price.
My room there was quite spacious and the bathroom fine.
I opted to just have the fan working as i am ok with that and air con would doble the price of the room from 5 to 10 dollars because of the high cost of electricity in Cambodia.
There is not really anything exciting about that place, but it´s surely a good run for your money if you like a clean room for 5 dollars per night.
I staqyed at the moon guest house for the night cause the place where i initially wanted to stay was full and the moon guest house was right next door.
At 4 dollars a night this place is very hard to beat for the price.
My room was up on the third floor and did look and smell a bit like 4 dollars a night.
I have had similar priced rooms in other parts of Cambodia that were considerably better i must say.
If price is your main thing then this is surely a good deal and the lady running it was friendly. but if you can afford another 2-3 dollars a night then you can get something considerably better.
This hotel is very new, so everything is very clean and nice. On top of the hotel there is a 2-story roof terrace with a nice view. There are additonal terraces on the 3rd and 4th floor to relax.
The rooms are spacious enough and equipped with tv, fridge and ensuite bathroom. There is no breakfast served, however there is a nice cafe in 5 minuites walking distance.
The staff is very young, friendly and helpful.
One morning from 5 am to 6 am, there was a very loud noise (traditional music and praying) from outside. Obviously there was a wedding in some street near the hotel. I'm not sure, if this happens often in this central area.
Roof terrace /Internet-PCs in the lobby and WLAN in all rooms free of charge / Bicylces for rent / Tickets for sale
There seemed to be a few very new small hotels dotted around the streets we found one that looked brand new and the prices started at $US8-$US20 it was written on the window with some pics of rooms that looked pretty ok. Wish I had taken notice of the name. As it was the end of season when we were there end of March 09 there were not too many tourists to be seen. If I was to go back again at that time of in the low season I doubt I would book anything or maybe just for 1 night then check out what is available. I did ask our guide why there were so many hotels but not so many on the internet he believes the people find the internet too expensive and they dont understand the importance of the internet. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 days stay in BB.
We booked this GH after speaking to Brett the Aussie owner via MSN for quite a while and it all sounded good, his webvsite looks good too. We agreed to both balcony rooms(however had no key to access) at $US20 a night without b/fast. Given there isnt a great deal of info on accom in BB to be found we thought we had done enough research before agreeing to stay here how wrong can one be!!!.
When we arrived we discovered it was quite dingy and unclean how he can describe it as being BB "Boutique GH" is beyond me. The linen sheets and towels were threadbare it just wasnt nice.
We decided not to stay we found a hotel about 1km away a 4* hotel that included b/fast for $US30 a room. That is another posting.
None the food served was all western and what we had was floating in grease cheicken burger & fries, we were starving having just just off the bus from PP.
However he does offer a great 1 day trip which we booked and found to be very good it was $US20pp which included transport, guide, all entrance fees all we bought was lunch our guide and driver was called Ro.
The Chhaya has decent rooms with attached bathroom and Sat-TV!
The rooms are a bit gloomy, but good value (5$,double).
2003 update :
they have renovated the entire place without hiking the prices and their modern, tidy rooms are now excellent
This is probably the most popular and also best budget option in town.
This is the place where my parents stayed when they visited me, as they need a little comfort and a good bathroom this hotel turned out to be an excelant choice.
Their room had all the comfort they needed and the staff was very helpful.
Very spacious room for very little money ($11)
This is not the best hotel in Battambang anymore, The Royal Hotel is renovated and is considered as the best today.
Chaya was alright and the staff was very helpful
Air-con, hot water, pretty hard bed
This place ok for me, the people and building but there is a bloody story behind the scene.
view at my tourist trap regarded my experienced.
Directly at an intersection, a clean Guest House but nothing spectacular.
It has the same owner like Royal Hotel, which I choose originaly, but which was full.
I paied 4 $ for a double. with TV 5 $
For Fan, Bathroom attach with hot water and TV cost USD5 a night
This hotel were build for the UN personel and now is most of the time vacant. It comes with bathroom attach and hot water and TV with CNN. Porno movie is also shown in the night.
