Ships past the beach outside the Mealy Chenda by DrewV Perched on a hill overlooking Victory Beach, the Mealy Chenda Guesthouse will make you kiss the ground in adulation of all things Cambodian. Standard room with bath: $4, and a ton of geckos on the windows for free. Four dollars! On the beach! FOUR DOLLARS!
Not only is the location great and the room adequate (it's four dollars, what do you expect?), but the restaurant above is brilliant, with a magnificent view onto the gulf. The perfect place to watch a sunset over your Khmer specialties. Ufortunately, the radio does tend to play cheesy music, but if you can handle that, it's a great value. Dada Guesthouse is a family-run accomodation above Victory Beach, next to the over-done Mealy Chenda Guesthouse (Hotel is a more appropriate title). The family that owns Dada is very kind and helpful. As a family-run operation, Dada Guesthouse is also free of thieving employees, a problem that plagues many of Sihanoukville's accomodations. Room rates vary from $4-8 per night and they provide services such as laundry, bus and boat tickets, and island tour bookings.
The Dada family owns and operates their own guesthouse, so the atmosphere is very welcoming and the service quite friendly. Theme: Pension/GuesthousePrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about average

GST appears on the surface to be a very good value. A large spotless room with attached bathroom, fan, lounge area outside, and cable television fetches only $7. Unfortunately, that price also includes poor service by a crew dressed as if they were catering a dinner party and spearheaded by a surly receptionist who dresses in camouflage pants, a wife-beater, and a do-rag when he goes out at night. The guy must have a cousin in Long Beach. The room has the appearance of being secure, but apparently it's quite easy to slide the window open, reach between the bars covering that window, and open the door from the outside. I discovered this after noticing that someone had relieved me of my digital camera while I was at the beach. The receptionist-by-day / aspiring thug-by-night was of no assistance in writing any kind of report or telling me where I could go to speak to police. Besides him, the rest of the staff don't seem terribly thrilled to be working there and do little to enhance the sterile atmosphere of GST. Talking to ex-pats and other travellers, I later found out that theft is common at GST and other people had a similar take of the staff. This place is not recommended. It's called a hotel, but depends on whose standards. Regardless, it has decent rooms, cable TV, hot water and is a short walk to the beach. There are a number of other hotels near the Holiday Hotel that I also stayed at. Most are pretty comparable in price and quality of rooms/service.
No unique qualities except it's close to the beach. Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageDirections: Take a taxi to the main beach. There's a road that parallels it. The Holiday Hotel and others are along this road.

Great place for a comfortable stay. There is a pleasant breakfast area, seatings on the 3rd floor where you can sit and relax. The rooms are very clean and there are rooms with fridge. Bathroom was a bit dark, but everything clean.
The 3rd floor seatings, close to the beach. Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: O. Chheuteal, SihanoukvillePhone: 034-933-638 or 012-947-692Website: jasminehotel@hotmail.com

After traveling in a minibus from Koh Kong, I was happy to be guided to this hotel by a most helpful motoboy. Good standard (abt 3 star), I enjoyed a dive into the swimming pool in the back-yard, the hotel has also everything for fitness-freaks.

Well... it's about 10 minutes away from the beach. Staff is rather unfriendly and the rooms were smelly. Especially the pillows, they had a very odd smell.... also there is a constraction site next door which makes the place quite noise. Some rooms also face the pool.... yep... noisy. And we had a very odd noise at night from the back alley... repeating itself every 30 minutes. Room rates from USD 13 to 28 and two family rooms of USD 30 and 40 per night. Rates include government tax. Rooms as from USD 18 include breakfast buffet for 2 persons per room, exception for triples and family rooms.
I didn't like much about that place actually.... by Kiwomya We had a great time staying at Monkey Republic this year (2007). The place has been open for just over a year so thats why its not in the guidebooks. Nice little blue wooden bungalows a few minutes walk from the beach priced at $6 a night. Each had a western bathroom and a little balcony. We got a free beer when we arrived which was nice after four hours on a bus from phnom penh. They had someone giving out leaflets at the bus station when we arrived otherwise we perhaps would never have known about the place. They have a big menu with lots of good value meals and are near some really god restaurants in the street (two japanese and a place that does mexican).
It was a very social place and we met a load of great folks there. The western owners and staff were friendly and very knowledgeable with travel tips. Theme: HostelComparison: about averageAddress: Serendipity BeachWebsite: Not Sure

A view from the outside by aqazi I nice place right by the beach. There are a number of beaches in town but some are frequented by jelly fish. Susaday is by the Ochheuteal Beach though Serendipidy beahc is close by. The rooms at Susaday have a fan and are very clean. In the summer its extremely hot outside and the rooms sheild you during the afternoons. The place has a cafe servng nice food, of course as you're in Cambodia you have to eat the seafood and obviously you can't get it any fresher than by the seaside. The prices here aer probably more expensive than other places at $10 but you get a private bathroom and a multilingual owner.
