hotel room by xaver A really small and cosy guest house. Definitly central, cheap and clean. The restaurant is very simple but its dishes are various and definitly tasty. There are some computers wich you can use to connect even if, web connection in Cambodia is still very slow, so...take your time.
The rooms are really large, I was alone and paid 15 dollars for a room with 2 king size bed, toilette and (working!) air condition. The reception guy that actually is an I do "I do everything" guy, can arrange for you transferts to temples, poipet, bycicle exc.I did not book in advance, but if you do, they'll come to pick you up at the airport or at the bus station free, you will not save a lot of money but you will avoid to fight with all the drivers that would jump on you just outside the bus or the airport. Vue de l'auberge - tres colonial! by CyrilHH I stayed here for three nights and can only recommend this place. Charming older building in colonial style, painted in bright yellow and orange, nicely furnished and decorated in the common areas and rooms, very pleasant semi-open breakfast/dining room (I didnt have dinner here though), bar with happy hour etc. Very friendly unobtrusive staff. Easy English spoken contact over the internet with good webpage and helpful pictures of the rooms. Rates published may be negotiable - just ask politely when making a booking request. I paid USD 25 for a standard AC single incl. bf and the published rate was higher without bf. Hotel arranges car pick-up from the airport, clearly an option you should take since it avoids that cabbies at the airport try to talk you into going to their favorite places. Good and very quiet location, still close enough (easy walking distance) to downtown market and restaurant area which I find preferable to proximity to road RN6 leading to the ruins - there all the hotels look the same.
Credit card payment is possible here which is not the case everywhere in town. However, be prepared to pay in cash (dollars!!!) in the event the phone connection to the credit card computer breaks down. It happened to me, and there was no cash to be obtained from a CC all over town, not even in a bank, due to the same phone connection cut! Luckily I had enough Thai Baht left which I could change into USD then. RedPiano2002 by xuessium Hotel is right smacked in the middle of town of Siem Reap. 5 minutes walk to the main road where all the restuarants lie. Simple accommodation, clean and comfortable for a small boutique hotel of that price range (circa 2002). Have received news that the hotel now has a new wing though. The owner is Geert Caboor.
The bar counter cum restaurant was tastefully decorated, despite the choice of red as the main colour (circa 2002). I like the outside tables, shaded from the road by pots of palms and with the old fan circling over the head, rich with old world colonial charm. When I arrived the Siem Reap airport on the first day, I was warmly welcomed by the host of Jasminelodge Guesthouse, Mr Kunn. This was because I booked the room online and the guesthouse provides the free pick-up service from the airport or bus station if you request. Mr Kunn is really a helpful, friendly, honest and humour host. He would share anything with you openly. When he picked me up from the airport, he was willing to introduce and share the town and life in Siem Reap. His honesty is the utmost thing that I like about him. Even he is the host, he told me honestly what are good and bad over here. He would rather make some suggestions for you for the places to visit and things to do, he won't force you to follow but let you to make your own decisions. The staffs there are equally helpful. When I arrived, they'd already waited me at the front gate and helped me to take my belongings to my room. They even talked a lot to me, shared their lifes and childhood. That's why I love here and the people in Jasminelodge. The great thing of travelling is to meet different kinds of people and experience their way of living, make new friends and share the stories of life. During my stay over there, I talked to Mr Kunn and the staffs there almost every night, having some beers and playing pool. This is the greatest guesthouse I had ever stayed. The greatest host and staffs.
The room, beds and toilets are clean and comfortable to stay. It is very cheap and is the first choice for budget travellers. Price per person for one day is USD 3 and you can sleep in a big room with big beds. The satellite TV are available in some rooms. Burning CD service at reasonable rate is available too. Visa, Bus and Boat tickets to different destination in Cambodia are also on sale here. One thing great is they will try to choose the best service for you. I personally bought the bus ticket from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh here, and they provided me with the very comfortable and great bus service. There are free pool in the restaurant. If you are alone, the stuffs are even happy and helpful to play the pool game with you. When in Siem Reap in January or February during the Chinese Tet holiday that is celebrated throughout South east Asia, be sure to book a hostel ahead. I came there one day after Tet, and literally all the hostels were fully booked. It took me about one and a half hours finding one that wasn't fully booked - and I managed to get the last room! The place I stayed in was Siem Reap Angkor Guesthouse - it was okay, though nothing special. At $4 a night, however, I shouldn't complain. In general, there are plenty of opportunities to stay in Siem Reap - literally one in every second house - but it can be hard to find one during Tet. A map of Siem Reap's hostels can be found here. The entrance by SirRichard This classical hotel of french colonial elegance has been recently bought by the Raffles groups, who restored it. I didn't sleep here, but went for a cup of tea to see the inside and have a walk around, as is one of the hotels I had always read about and wanted to know it in person. In the middle of the alley, at the left by SirRichard I arrived late at night in SR. I had no idea of where to go, so I told the driver to take me to "a 5 $ one", any. So I ended up here, and it was not so bad. It is very well located, in a narrow alley, 5 minutes from everyhere. The rooms are basic but clean.

The main entrance by SirRichard This was my first option when I arrived to SR, as I saw it in "Tales of Asia", but it was full so I had to go to another place. This place is popular amongst backpackers, is well located and offers rooms for 5-10 USD. They have a terrace at the ground floor and sell bus-boat tickets.

The main entrance by SirRichard This was my second night in SR. The first one I arrived late and got into the first place I found. But that day I visited a few places and chose this little Guesthouse by the riverside. It is a clean refurbished pension, with good rooms for 8 USD. It has a wonderful french veranda with viewsto the river, internet access, laundry service, and is in the very centre of town, walking distance to all the restaurants, pubs... perfect for a low budget!!!
They sell tickets for bus and boat to Phnom Penh too. Theme: Pension/GuesthousePrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensivePhone: 015 834264Directions: # 353 St. Porkombor, Group 10, Khum Svaydangkum, Srok Siem Reap015 834264

My room at Prum Bayon #125 by ukirsari by ukirsari Situated at the main road National Route Nr 6 to the down town. Not so far from the Siem Reap airport also going out of the city (for those who choose overland from Bangkok (Thai) to Siem Reap (Cambodia) this hotel is easy to find).
Without pool maybe I can feel sad --> :( But since the main attractions are the Angkors, I don't care --> :D It's three stars hotel and a brand new one, the wooden panels in my room still have their nice fragrance and the blanket is made from Cambodian traditional fabric. Nice and here I can still tune-in to MTV-Indonesia then I can sing after midnight in my room, hahahahaha :) Theme: HotelPrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Airport Road, Siem ReapPhone: (855) 63963568, 63760168Directions: From the airport straight to the direction of Royal ResidenceOther Contact: pr_bayon@camintel.com
