Comfort amidst history

by shrimp56 about Angkor Century Hotel

The first luxury hotel to be built after the fall of the Khmer Rouge has many fancier competitors these days -- but it remains a good high-end choice. It was reported to me that the pool was marvelous:)

Great pool, great spa (and Cambodian owned too!)

by joeymello about Angkor Century Hotel

I enjoyed my stay here at Angkor Century Hotel. It has 4 floors and is a 10-15 minute walk from the old market of Siem Reap. It's Cambodian/Khmer owned (not foreign) so you'll actually feel like your money is going back to Cambodia. The hotel has a stunning free-form pool, a spa, and free breakfast at its coffeeshop. During the evenings, they also have a free apsara show where you can enjoy and see first hand Khmer traditional dancing.

The downsides:
1) There is another hotel being built on one side of the hotel. Therefore, staying on that side of the hotel may be noisy during the day due to construction.
2) No lifeguard on the pool. However, the pool is quite shallow in western standards. The deepest point is around 6 feet.
3) $50 late check out fee. Check out time is 12PM.
4) Most of the items you see in the gift shop are also sold in downtown Siem Reap or in the Angkor Wat complex area. Of course, the products sold in the hotel are more expensive (sometimes double the price you'd see on the street.) A few things:
1) Upon arrival, we were greeted with a welcome drink (great orange juice) and a complimentary Cambodian scarf.
2) Free breakfast. Their breakfast is SO THOROUGH! It pretty much is an Asian, American, and European breakfast. They had sausages, eggs, an omelette stand, asian noodles (and other Chinese/Japanese breakfast foods), French pastries, etc. I was always full after this breakfast buffet.
3) Spa was great. My friend and I had an aroma oil massage, manicure, pedicure, and even an ear cleaning!
4) Room service is 24-hours and all the staff I met were very nice and courteous; though some of them did not speak English that well. Nonetheless, their hospitability made up for it.
5) Our view was the front of the hotel overlooking the main road to Angkor Wat. I wish I had a view of the pool/back area ...
6) They also have a small river and scenic bridge right by the pool bar.

Cambodia's Best Places

by Loopy551 about Angkor Century Resort & Spa

Fantastic 1st class hotel. Staff could not do enough to make the stay a memorable and comfortable one.
Full spa facilities, large outdoor swimming pool several bars and restaurants, nightly entertainment.
Small shop inside but it can be quite pricey as you can pick up most of the things outside, (especially in the market) considerably cheaper.
Beautiful spacious rooms with a view of the pool or surrounding woodlands.
Moner changing facilites available at the desk for a small fee.
Cheaper prices can be obtained by booking through some of the reputable hotel companies such as Travelmood.
They offer excellent deals to Cambodia. Very beautiful interior and exterior.
Quite old worldy yet with modern facilites.
Beautiful pool with beautiful surroundings and wonderful spa treatment rooms and very relaxing spa treatments.
