French Taste, Khmer Aesthetics

by cochinjew about Angkor Village Resort

Recommend this place for Older Travellers who wish to enjoy Angkor but would like to do it in style and not be involved in the hassles. Everything is looked after including delicous meals and drinks. and the rooms are in meticulous order. Both owners, the French husband and Khmer wife are architects and it shows everywhere
Expect to pay European Prices and most of the guests are older europeans on package tours.

I stayed at Angkor Village...

by gotlostagain

I stayed at Angkor Village Hotel in Siem Reap. This was luxury hotel. They quoted a double for $80/night but we were able to bargain it down to $60/night. The room was a teak bungalow, wonderful traditional decor, with a very nice bathroom. Important things to me, especially the last part. Yes, its a bit pricey but it was really nice to chill out in my air conditioned room when it got too hot out at the temples. Whatever your budget is there are plenty of hotels and guesthouses to accommodate you.

A big gardenish hotel in the center of Siem Reap

by Tommiandtanja about Angkor Village

A very, very nice hotel with two-stories high bungalow-type of buildings. Intimate and a feel of rainforest with a lot of small canals and lakes. At night time the exotic noise of frogs, lizards and other creatures were lovely! One time even apes ran the roofs of our bungalows. Like a huge garden!

A nice place to Stay

by cochinjew about The Mandalay Inn

Someone sent me an email requesting contact information about Mandalay Inn, so here they are
it is right in the heart of siem reap, just at the end of sivatha road and close to the old market and the siem reap river
tel no 855 63761662 11402161 you will reach the owners wife and the owners handphone is
92865356
there is a user friendly website set up by maung maung himself
www.mandalayinn.com
if you book through the site, I think he will send someone to pick you up and drop you off at the bus station, ferry station or the airport. mention this to him when you book.
psar krooung strret (BBU st) is the official address..
there is a nice place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner with very reasonably priced meals, khmer or bamar..
he has also a nice selection of wines (influenced by his association with the french owners of angkor village and resort). they are also reasonably priced.

Angkor Village in Siem Reap

by Pouic about Angkor Village in Siem Reap

It is one of the most expensive hotels of the area yet, it only is 70$ per night. The pool is grand!

Siem Reap, Cambodia's hidden paradise!

by Bali-Babe about Angkor Village Hotel

This was an incredible hotel, but quite overpriced! The rooms were large with four poster beds in them and wonderful views. Rooms had sliding glass doors around them opening onto wrap around terraces facing the moats/ponds in the courtyard of the hotel grounds. The hotel gets two thumbs up for ambiance, romance, and beauty.

The pool is small and not very clean. It kinda had a green tint to it and lots of mosquitos buzzing around the top of the water. But I did swim in it after a hot day of temple exploration and it was enjoyable.

Check out the traditional Apsara dance that the hotel holds in a separate building across the street from the hotel. It includes dinner, which was very good, and the dancers are terrific. When booking the hotel online, make sure you get the dinner/dance included in your stay. The hotel can also arrange for a driver for the day. It's around $40, but the driver will take you anywhere you would like. They are very knowledgeable and their English is good too.

Christmas in Siam Reap / Angkor

by fallswithstyle

Hi!

I'm in the middle of "planning" my travels, and am currently thinking of spending Christmas at Angkor Wat. What are the hotel/guest houses like around this time? Or, more percisely - can I do the standard travelling/backpacking thing and show up and expect to find a room, or should I actually formally plan in advance and book ahead?

Thanks!

If you think Christmas is worth one nice night in a dead nice hotel have a look at Angkor Village on the internet. Look at the old one not the new one.

dont stay in the Ankor hotel in Siem Riep the food will poison you. However there is a Thai restaurant next door to it which is fantastic.

by colcol155

this hotel looks wonderful and good value on their web site. however, I cannot find any mention of it on travel agency web sites.

can anyone comment on how good or bad this hotel is from experience.

RE: mirage hotel siem reap

having done some more research on the web it appears that the mirage hotel is better known as Damnak Angkor Village in siem reap. perhaps the hotel has had a name change.
anyone able to comment on this hotel please?
