We stayed at the Angkorland Hotel , it was beautiful and spotless. The pool was fantastic. The Hotel makes their own electric so except for the short time that they switch gererators, your not in the dark after 9 P.M.
Without question we would recommend this Hotel to anyone. Pool was FANTASTIC , and the landscape is beautiful. Upper floors you get a nice view of the city.

Hi my husband and three children ages 14,10 & 7 are planning a trip to Cambodia, we will be flying from Australia and are open from which country we will fly into Siem Reap from. Options are Thailand, Malaysia Vietnam or Singapore. Plan is to spend 7 nights in Cambodia then seven nights in the country we fly in from. Considering there are five of us wanted to know which country had the cheapest flights to Siem Reap. Also suggestions of where to stay whilst in SR would be greatly appreciated (with 3 kids a good pool is a must. Cheers

Not sure what is the cheapest - but for me the choice would be Vietnam or
thailand as both have lots of things to see and do for all the family.
In Siem Reap we stayed at the Bopha of Angkor - lovely hotel with good pool - small but very nice to go back to after a day at Angkor. In my opinion 7 days in SR is too long - if thats all you plan to do in Cambodia I would spend more time in the other country.

Currently 2 budget airlines fly into SR:
Jetstar Asia via Singapore
Air Asia via Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)
You can try to fly into Singapore, budget style, via Jetstar from Darwin or Cairns or Tiger Airways via Perth or Darwin, and after, connect to the next sector to SR.
Vietnam Airlines flies to SR from Vietnam and Siem Reap Airways flies to SR from BKK. Both are not budget airlines.

I'll check out all the options advised and check out which is best for us. How many days do you suggest for S.R?
if only planning on seeing Angkor then I would get a three day pass and spend 4 days/3nights there and then go back to the country you fly into. If you want to Tonle Sap maybe add another day but I reckon you have more to see in other countries.
For sure the budget airlines such as airasia adn jetstar are the way to go. many great hotels in Siem Reap with pools, too many to mention.

The entry pass into the National Park of Angkor Wat goes this way: US$20 for 1 day, US$40 for 3 days and US$60 for 1 week....so you can plan accordingly.
