Siem Reap Hotel

This hotel is a great hotel with excellent staff and a great location about a 5 minute walk from the market area in Siem Reap. I have attached the website address below but I highly recommend it for cleanliness, location, price, etc.
Quietness and Peace in Siem Reap
by danieltaneh about Golden Temple Villa
It is about a 10-min-walk away from the Old Market. A peaceful and quiet lodge from the Pub Street Hotels where you won't get to sleep till 4am because of the music blaring into the silent nights. Although blaring music is a form of self expression that basically says "This is the music I love. You should feel privileged that I am sharing this awesome music ..." but nobody needs it when one wishes to see sunrise the next day in the tranquility of Angkor magic. Golden Temple Villa staff are helpful and funny, especially Danay, Bunthai and Kavy. Free internet access and a restaurant which offers hot tea and coffee with green Cambodian bananas are plus points. However, on the way back to GT Villa, you will have to walk past two houses with red lanterns, but the service providers usually do not bother you. I guess they serve the locals more.
Siam Reap excellent hotel at 9$
by gbarb about Golden Temple Villa
I found this accomodation perfect, and a wonderful escape from the heath and dust of the town. It`s new, clean, with free internet (4 pcs in AC room), free coffee and tea, conveniently located at 9$ room fan and 15$ AC. But above all it has that special touch by which you feel confortably relaxed like home.

On our trip, the caretakers were friendly enough.
We had a good room. Corner room, with front and side windows. Cable TV free, while fridge and airconditioner was available in the room but our deal was just for the fan. It was a two double-bed room for the three of us, for USD12. Don't leave any uncleaned cup after drinking your coffee in the room though. The ants were quick to come.
Free coffee, tea, hot water, condensed milk and internet, downstairs near the counter.
Just for a resting place, it's a good deal. The food at it's restaurant is great! Really delicious. Not too expensive. Even the humble fried rice for USD2 was totally satisfying in size (for me at least) and taste.
Best Stay in Siem Reap
by woosoowei about Golden Temple Villa
The Golden Temple Villa is a guest house just 200m away from the Siem Reap old market. Away from the hustle and bustle yet close to the heart of most happening place in town.
With USD$15 per twin room per night, you've got a room with aircond, private bathroom, hot shower, 60+ channels of satelite TV; you've also got free airport pick up, free breakfast for two, free internet surfing, free coffee and tea, free fruit (only bananas I've seen during my stay), free pool game, free movie, free bycicle rental (hmm... this I didn't know)... what else you could ask for?
The staffs and drivers are very helpful and speak decent English. Immediately after they pick us up from the airport, they've offer their advice on travel destinations and transport, with very reasonable charge. However my advice would be to have an idea of where you want to go as their advice of the itenary might not suit you. The guest house has just opened since 2004, everything smells like new. The owner (I guess) owned a bar near pub street of Siem Reap, also at walking distance from guest house. When we asked whether there's any good hang-out place at night, we were given a coupon of one free beer at this Temple Club, what a great surprise!
Great budget fare in Siem Reap
by ShonaM about Golden Temple Villa
This was superb accomodation for backpacker prices. The rooms were clean and traditionally decorated, the bar/restaurant was good value, and they had free internet, coffee AND airport pick-up included in the room price. Staff were exceptionally friendly, especially the owner, always keen to arrange transport for you or give you travel advice, and there are a couple of lovely balconies where you can watch the sun go down if you don't want to hang around Angkor with every other tourist in the country... I would definitely stay here again if i went back and would recommend it to anyone. Big comfy chairs in the courtyard and balconies, perfect for those lazy afternoons after temple-visiting; the rooms were decorated in cool orange and purple colours, very chilled-out!
Mid-Priced Quarters close to Psar Chaa
by bpacker about Golden Temple Villa
When three divas from Singapore picks a joint, you can bet your bottom dollar that it'll be a mighty feat. Clubber diva wanted the joint to be close to all the hotest bars in town, shopper diva wanted it to be close to psar chaa and greedy diva wanted a slew of good restaurants to choose from. To top it all off, all three divas didn't want their silk-lined pockets to be burned. It took a long time before all three divas settled on this hotel. It sounded good and met all their requirements... What the divas liked:
1)Reasonably priced at USD25 per room
2)A working air-con and water heater
3)Cable TV
4)Free pick up from the airport
5)Close to Psar Chaa, Red Piano and Dead Fish Tower
6)Free Internet
What they didn't like
1)Air con wasn't strong enough
2)Ensuite toilet was a bit small
3)The hotel was situated in a dark lane, away from the main road.
Siem town relatively new hotel
by prikje about Golden Temple Villa
I stayed twice in this hotel wich I found on www.talesofasia.com (EXCELLENT !!! info-site)
Made my reservation by e-mail and got replied correctly, they even offer a free pick-up service (airport or bus/boatstop).
If you wanna stay luxurious, take a 2 bed room, its huge and extremely comfortable. You deserve that if you come overland from Thailand.
All the restaurants and other hotels are within a 5 minute walk radius because Siem town is that small.
There is a 15 minutes free internet service,longer... you have to pay, verify your starting time yourself cause being Cambodian they can't help to try to rip you off...
They have there own bar with a good, nicely priced restaurant. If it wasn't for the lack of a good view on pedestriants strolling by,this would be a excellent restaurant to stay and not going into town.
They offer a package to see Angkor.I went on my own cause you get tuk-tuk offers every 10 meters (annoying !) if you walk on the street. on every floor there is a balcony where you can chill and have a great view over the rooftops of Siem town.
Take a beer and good company and enjoy the setting on the balcony,it's nice !
Great Times

We had a fantastic time at the Golden Temple Villa. We were picked up from the airport, given free water while we drove to the hotel and promptly checked in. The restaurant attached to the hotel served excellent, good value food. The fresh spring rolls are to die for. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and arranged a van and tour guide for 2 days of our stay. It was very easy to organise. The hotel is also conveniently located close to the centre of Siem Reap and there is laundry service available over the road.

Looking for Info -Golden temple Villa - Peace of Angkor GH Siem Reap
by squidchip
Does anyone have info on either Peace of Angkor GH or Golden Temple Villa.
Which is the best bet for a stay in Siem Reap? I am taking my 58 yr old Mother if that has any relevance. Thanks in advance for any help.

I stayed at the Golden Temple Villa in February. It is very clean and I think it would be comfortable for your mother. They have very good food. Check your bill closely before you pay- they don't always add correctly. Have fun!

Which to choose?
by cheapskate
Hello everyone..
I've narrowed down my choices of guesthouses to just two- Golden Temple Villa OR Mom's Guesthouse..
Now i need your opinion on which is better OR if there are any better alternatives.
We will be travelling in a group of 12, and all students.. so we'll want to stay in a good location where we can get food, entertainment, shopping and get things done, eg. travel agencies and taxi bookings, etc. If i'm not wrong, the old market area is the place to be?
Which of the above mentioned has better locale?
Thanks for your help!

Hi Wendy -
I'd say that Golden Temple Villa definitely is in the better location. The "Wat Bo" area where Mom's Guesthouse is located is fine, but it's a bit of a walk to the old market area. There are several restaurants in the Wat Bo area, it's not a bad spot to stay - but it's a much quieter spot than the old market area. Pretty much all of the bars in town that you might want to sample are around the old market. Shops and services are better around the old market too (the E-Cafe opposite the Dead Fish Tower has a nice fast connection).
Don't forget to try the yummy Khmer food while you're there!
Cheers,
Jeremy

Hi Wendy (again!) -
Just thought I'd have a quick look at the Trip Advisor site to see if there's useful info for you there - they have a couple of reviews of the Golden Temple Villa...
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g297390-d526449-r3176207-Golden_Temple_Villa-Siem_Reap.html
It sounds like the place is fine but you don't want to rely on the staff to book your travel arangements for you. There are several travel agents around town so it shouldn't be a problem to make your arrangements elsewhere.
Cheers,
Jeremy

If you want to stay in the most convenient location, then it has to Golden Temple because it is quite close to the Old Market. Mom's guesthouse is further away, more than 10 mins of walking. How do I know....I walked several times.
But Mom's guesthouse has great restaurants at its location. Better than at Old Market and quite cheap too for a large group. The Vietnamese restaurant is good and so is the one beside it.

Hi Wendy, I just came back from Cambodia. Haha, I'll recommend Golden temple coz I stayed there! Service was great, the rooms were clean and it's a short walk from there to Psar Chaa and interesting joints like Red Piano, Dead Fish Tower.

Best place to get a massage
by thuyronald
Hello!
Does anyone have any suggestion or info as to where to go to get massages that are reasonable. I'll be staying at the Golden Temple Villa.
Thanks.
RE: Best place to get a massage

You are just a couple of metres away from the Old Market area. There are several massage shops and prices are very reasonable.

I don't know....maybe of the massage parlours in Siem Reap looked downright seedy...maybe you can ask the hotel for recommendations....

There are various "Seeing hands" - places. I can highly recommend. Good massage by blind people, nice relaxing clean athmosphere. You'll find "seeing hands" also in PP and Kampot.

My wife and I just returned from Siem Reap Angkor Cambodia last week.
We were extremely satisfied especially with the Tour Guide. He is quite fluent in English, friendly and very knowledgable about Cambodian history and culture. He is an historian who gave us very great perspective to what we saw.
His name is PANHA OU and you could contact him by Email: ou_panha@yahoo.com
I'm sure that you will get very great times in Cambodia if you get him as your tour guide there.
