Siem Reap's Cheap and Good Lodging
by chinwu about Jasmine Lodge
It's a nice little guest-house located near town. The first impression is that it is well kept and clean...and Jasmine Lodge does not disappoint. Aircon rooms with hot shower for USD15 for a double bed. Only complaint was the water - it smelled funny. Chose a guest house as this will benefit Cambodians directly. So instead of staying in the hotels which are owned by foreigners such as the Thais, Singaporeans, Japanese and Koreans, why not stay in some locally-owned accomodation, huh? The Kuhn family runs the guest-house, and they're friendly people. Mr Kuhn is in his mid-20s, a really young entrepreneur. His wife is doubles as the chef and cashier. His dad is the general maintenance man! As I was travelling with my family, we rented a van for USD25 per day to take us around. Had a good driver named Patt who's honest and very keen to improve English. Friendly, cosy, cheap. There's a Caltex petrol station nearby, about 5 minutes walk to buy groceries and cold mineral water at very reasonable prices! Do try out the noodles at the coffee shop opposite Jasmine Lodge. It's very clean as they soak the cups and utensils in boiling water before they serve you, and you can inspect the cooking area. Noodles at USD1 or 4,000 riels.

The owner is not a very kind person, but staff is hepful.
There are many possibilities of accomodation, from basic rooms with fan to rooms with private bathrooms, hot showers, air conditioning and cable TV.
A single basic room with private bath and a fan costs around USD5. Rooms are clean.
In the restaurant you can try local and international dishes for a reasonable price. Food is delicious.
This hostel offers a travel agency. Here I rented a motorbike with guide to explore Angkor temples, but I have found a ticket bus back to Bangkok for cheaper price in another travel agency.
Sauna anyone?
by dimanche about Jasmine Lodge
The only reason I booked my stay at this guesthouse was because it was cheap. I have learnt my lesson in not letting the prices of accommodation be my deciding factor in future. I opted for a non air-conditioned room, thinking that I could brave the Cambodian heat and determined not to have any comforts. The fan was mounted on the wall and it was quite useless. It felt like a sauna everytime I stepped into the room. There were times I was desperate to just sleep at the balcony area where it was so much cooler but it was where the drivers and staff slept. The floor was quite dirty and sandy as well. Unless Siem Reap is my last stop and I've used up most of my accommodation money, I would probably pay a bit more for a better room. The staff and drivers were very friendly and helpful. The only plus point of my stay there.
Any Backpackers' Wish

Firts of all, I was so surprised to meet Mr Kunn, the owner of this place. He's younger than what I've expected. Plus, he was very considerate to give a double ensuite room at single rate to my buddy. Considering we have booked our rooms (online at hostelbookers.com) earlier.
Not to mention the free airport transfer. An yes, the driver was already waiting for us when we reached there.
The Lodge's keeper was also very cordial and friendly to entertain us during our trip there. He even arranged for the bus to Phnom Penh to pick us up at the Lodge. The thing that I love most is having the Lodge's tuk-tuk driver as the "personal driver" for our Siem Reap trip.We just state our own plan and everything is considered Done!
