The floating market, Siem Reap
Hi! I'm doing my last minute research and double-checking the expenses. And below is what I've found out. Please tell me if what I've researched is correct. Thanks! I really appreciate it.
Tuktuk around Angkor area - $10 (+ $5 for sunrise; + $5 for sunset)
Car - $25 (+ $5 for sunrise; + $5 for sunset)
(+ $18 for Beng Melea because it's far. Is this like the gas fee?)
(+ $13 for Bantey Srie because it's far.Is this like the gas fee?)
(is there any additional for Koh Ker? Because I know it's also far)
Koh Ker Toll - $10
Koh Ker Ticket - $5
Beng Melea Toll - $5
Beng Melea Ticket - $5
Tour Guide - $25 (plus $5 for sunrise)
*Is it the same tour guide rate if going to Beng Melea & Koh Ker?
Angkor Ticket - $40 (for 2 days)
Massage - $2 (for foot massage; for others it's $7)
Meals - minimum of $5, maximum of $10
10usd is on the cheap side for a tuk-tuk. More like 12(-15).
+5 for sunset yes.
+5 for sunset - should be no charge.
+5 for Banteay srei
+10-30 or so for other distant places, and of course Koh Ker is more - it's bloody miles away. Not sure about that - 60 or 70 for a car, maybe.
25 will pay for a decent guide - or a crap guide who overcharges!
My main worry is that you are treating this like a supermarket shopping list - what you pay is also down to your luck and bargaining skills. And doing it here your are trusting to luck - cheaper than a reputable tour company, but also no safeguards. Doing it through your hotel or guesthouse is also no guarantee of quality, but at least you have someone to complain to if things aren't right.
Can eat for much less than 5$, or a LOT more! BBQ Lover my current favourite out of the "1$ noodle" places around the school opposite Molly Malone's.
thanks for the tip!
Actually I'm comparing between the price quoted to me by a hostel (a reputable one, I've checked the internet to be sure) and the one quoted to me by a tour guide (also a reputable one, I've also checked the net).
My friends and I are really on a budget, so every dollar really counts for us. I just hope we make the right choice because it's now giving me a headache. haha
