Nice Lodging in Great Location

I found the Fancy Guesthouse on Trip Advisor. It had very good (and accurate) reviews there. It turned out to be an excellent choice for me. Besides being in a very convenient location near the National Museum, Kandal Market and Sisowath Quay, it was a clean, comfortable, reasonably-priced place to stay in Phnom Penh.

Mr. Phannak, Sr. was away on a trip but his son and daughter-in-law provided very good and friendly service. For example, the airport pick up ($10) was there, even though my flight was an hour late. They reserved my Mekong Express bus ticket to Siem Reap ($11) and hand-delivered it to me for a $1 service charge. Mr. Phannak, Jr. also called the PIO office about picking me up and did not charge me.

The one and only thing I did not like was the musty smell of the bed pillows. This was also mentioned in one of the Trip Advisor reviews and I cannot imagine why this is, since the whole hotel is extremely clean. The only thing I can think of is that they wash the pillows often and they don't have time to totally dry. Anyway, it was not that bad and I would absolutely stay at the Fancy Guesthouse again.

BEST GUEST HOUSE IN PHNOM PENH

The Fancy Guest House opened in December, 2007. It's a hidden gem in Phnom Penh. The manager, Phannak Heng, treats every guest like family, the rooms are spotless, and the service is exceptional. Phannak can arrange almost anything for your stay in Cambodia, and knows the city well. There is an inexpensive internet cafe just across the street, and the riverfront, restaurants, National Museum, and Grand Palace an just a few blocks away.

Unique Quality: Quiet rooms. Very clean. Great location. Friendly and helpful manager. Very reasonalbe nightly room rates.
