I stayed at the Sofitel Royal Cambodiana. Definite 4 star and good service. Close to many attractions in Phnom Penh.
About US$200/night Everything works and service is efficient. Many other places with local character though. Worth checking alternatives.
It's also expensive

Pnom Penh... Five star accomodation... those word's do not really go together. There are some nice hotel's there, but Pnom Penh is still recovering, and even the best hotel's are 3* everywhere else in the world!!! however, when i was there the best hotel's were all around the riverside, mostly the north end near the golden mount, or south by the foreign correspondants club.

The Cambodiana is regarded as one of the 5-star accommodations in Phnom Penh by their own standards. I think rates are around $160++ upwards. You can check it out and all the other 4-5* accommodations like Raffles, Intercontinental etc.
However I suggest the FCC (Foreign Correspondents Club) in PP as the better choice. A friend of mine stayed there and he loved the 'colonial' feel of the place. I believe it is around $60-$80 per night for a room.

Hi guys, thanks for your answers. Funny but I only received notification of a reply just now. Sorry for not getting back earlier, but I thought this post was dead and buried. I'll check everything out.
I am in Phuket right now and connection to the server is a bit dodgy at times, perhaps that's it.
