Noahsark Hotel (Huangshan/Tunxi): hotel close to train station!
We needed a place to stay in Tunxi, the city where you can fly into (or take the train) for your visit to Huangshan Mountain. I found this hotel by accident--it was listed on www.ctrip.com however the property only shows up online a few weeks prior to your visit. So, if you use ctrip.com and you want to get an idea about prices for the rooms and you still have a few months to go before your trip, you won't find the listing on the website just yet, you'll have to wait a while longer and then the property will be listed. I chose this hotel since it was kitty-corner to the central train station (it's that close). It was not fancy, and I got it for around $20 US for the night due to a sale (normal price was around $45 US). If you aren't fussy about where you stay, then this place is good for you. It came with free hot (chinese) breakfast, which included steamed buns and hard-boiled eggs and a selection of fruit juices and noodles, etc. The rooms are spacious yet simple. Bathroom had a shower area. We did have a problem with our room when we first checked in--the door wouldn't lock and we saw the signs of bugs on the floor and one chased my mom down the hall....but the staff were quick to change us to another room and after a careful inspection of this nicer (bug-free) room, we decided to stay (I'm a bug freak and if I decided I can handle it, you can too). The staff were friendly and at least one of them spoke decent English (not a lot, but enough to get by). The room had A/C, large windows, a desk and tv, and wardrobe. Check in was simple and easy. This hotel is part of the www.789HOTEL.COM chain.
Unique Quality: Incredibly close to the train station and the parking lot of the station also had the shuttle buses you can take to Tangkou to catch another bus up to your chosen tarting point on the mountain. A lady on the street saw us walking over to the shuttle buses and invited us over to one of the shuttles that was ready to leave and we paid 15 RMB each for the ride.

Huangshan City Bed&Breakfast: Fantastic Bed & Breakfast in Tunxi
We stayed in this B&B for 3 nights and it was the best in our trip with difference.
The owner Steven speaks perfect English and he and his family make you feel at home. Steven, who used to work as a guide, is ready to help you to plan daytrips and happy to help you with anything.
Unique Quality: Big, nice and extremely clean rooms. Great base if you plan to visit HuangShan mountain or/and the Ancient Villages of the area. Breakfast, which is included, is huge and delicious, and it changes everyday, so it is always a surprise. Don't hesitate to stay for dinner as well: Steven is a great cook! But the place is a bit difficult to find on your own, so make sure to give Steven a call when arriving (free pick-up service).
