Kites on Tiananmen Square
by Lemonita
Tiananmen Square is one of the world's largest squares. There is always a lot happening there...
It is always nice, when we don't have anything to do, to have a stroll there. I love to watch the multiple and various kites flying over the people. No where else have I seen so many beautiful kites...
Sometimes, I am just amazed to see that kites can fly so high in the sky... Also, it is a pleasure to see kids playing and running all around...
Beijing Tip

The marvellous porcelain and the chinese culture to drink tea. This is really a ceremony and takes a lot of time. At first sight they realize if the tea is still too hot do drink or not.
The cup at your left hand side has nothing in it, the other one is filled with hot water. Do you notice the change of colour of the phoenix?
Buying golf stuff
by PeterJac
With China being the worlds leading manufacture of golf clubs then obviously you’re going to see them for sale around Beijing. Unfortunately what you see for sale is almost always fake although visually you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference in many cases. One guy admitted they were copies and showed me to a back room in his shop where he claimed he kept the real stuff, still didn’t believe him though. All the top brands are there and are only a fraction of the cost in Europe but you get what you pay for. Would have loved to have tried to hit a few balls with one of the fake drivers but obviously not possible in the middle of Beijing, and I’m sure they wouldn’t risk a sale and allow you anyway. There’s about a dozen or more golfing stuff only shops nearby the silk market and a few more in the silk market but the ones away from the silk market are better. I bought couple of big name brand putters (Odessy and Taylormade) and they’re good fakes and I wasn’t going to do much harm for $20 each.

Lotus Lane

As mentioned earlier, this place has a resemblence to Clark Quay in Spore ( well, mainly because there's H2O beside it! )
Not as big as Clark and Boat Quay, but its a nice place to hang out.
There's a Starbucks as you enter on the left and another restaurant on the right. There was a group of African's playing live music and I totally enjoyed their performances.
Other hang-outs had Chinese live music...One thing to notice in this street is the fantastic oriental decorations in the pubs.. Casual
