Beijing International Hostel.
An annex of the Beijing International Hotel, this hostel is cheap, clean and has a great location in the center of Beijing. Only downside is that lockers are too small. Apart from that, an excellent hostel.

You can’t really expect too much from hotels in China. This “5 star” hotel falls very short on amenities and service. The service you receive depends very much on who you talk to and what kind of a mood they’re in. That being said, the staff does speak English, which is quite important, especially for communicating with cabbies. The location is decent and easy to find. The lobby is nicely done and it’s a shame that the rooms don’t look as nice.
Most importantly, the hotel will give a 50% discount off season, which is what makes it a deal. In season I would say try your luck else where.
Very nice hotel! Clean and good.
Rotating restaurant at the tom
9 Jianguo Meinei Dajie Beijing Beijing 100005)estaurant at the top.
Lovely hotel, staff were friendly, and helpful when they could understand what you wanted, if you are getting buffet breakfast included in your saty go to the 28 floor resturant instead of the one on the 1st floor, the veiw is much better, the service is better, and the food is better. By the way THE POWER POINTS in the hotel are american and australian format. So if your coming from oz you don't need an adapter
This hotel was part of the package for the tour I purchased.
Had no preconceived ideas about it apart from reading it was a 5 star hotel, but was in the 2nd tier of hotels in Beijing. So I thought it would be nice, but nbot necessarily luxurious.
Was pleasantly surprised as we (the 3 travellers from Sydney who arrived at the same time) stumbled/dragged ourselves into the lobby at around 1.00 a.m. Looked a bit more style than I am normally accustomed to I thought to myself as I surveyed the lobby.
Unique Quality: Lovely spacious rooms with good appointments.
Included compimentary use of bathrobes & cloth sandles. A very nice touch.
The staff responsible for looking after the room did a wonderful job, replenishing each day whatever appeared to be used. Some hotels will not do this on a daily basis.
Had a good gym with aerobic machines & weight machines. Along with this a sauna & steam room with a nice spa (big one & a small one).
It was well located a we could have walked to Tiananmen Square etc albeit probably 25 minutes.
All in all & very enjoyable stay.
To be filled in.

Interestingly, i just realised that this is a 5-star hotel when i went to check out the contact details for this post.
The decor, the huge lobby and the spacious rooms are probably near 5-star standards. But when i compare it with Traders Beijing, it is somewhat lacking in exclusivity and warmth. And this is more or less reflected in the prices.
So, it is recommended, but definitely not at 5-star standards.
Hi there. Going to be in China in October and part of my holidays is to eat at a revolving restaurants. Had a quick surf and I see there are 3 in Beijing and wondering which one was the best to go to regarding view and menu. The 3 I found are Starlight at Beijing International Hotel, Summit Club at Hotel Kunlun and Central TV Tower.
Also visiting Shanghai and wondering which one to visit there also, out of Oriental Pearl Tower & Art 50.
In Shanghai, I haven't heard of Art 50. I think the Oriental Pearl Tower's buffet isn't that good. If you can splash out a bit, the Epicure 46 of Radisson New World Hotel at People's Square would be fabulous.
Thanks. What would you recommend visiting/seeing whilst in Shanghai? only in shanghai for 3 days. the bund is top of our list. But what would you also say we should see
Well, what are your sightseeing interests and preferences?

A very good hotel.... with pool, shops, massage, fitness centre, bowling centre and very nice lobbey and rooms. Also some very nice restaurants and bars.
