Salvador Dali exhibition at Millenium Museum.
by Guantanamera
During my most recent trip to Beijing, I attended an outstanding exhibition of late Salvador Dali lithographs, watercolors and sculptures... My Portuguese traveling friend Paula, pictured here next to a soft watch sculpture, joined me for the event... Paula was a big fan of Dali, and was so thrilled to see the exhibition on her last day in Beijing...!
Pack something warm if not traveling during summer
by paulwf
Good comfortable walking shoes are required in Beijing especially in large places like the Forbidden Palace.I visited Beijing in April. It was still a bit cool and windy and they had some sand storms. It starts getting much warmer in May I believe. When traveling to the Great Wall or the Summer Palace I suggest you pack some warm clothes as it can be cold and windy. The main reason to visit Beijing is for the historic landmarks so a decent camera is essential.

Safe and exciting place to go at night
by JBourne about Wangfujing Street
Even in April when it was cold this area was busy with tourists and shopping. Shops were open past 9pm and there were plenty of restaurants to choose from.
There were a couple of malls, one which we visited a few times, called the Dong Am Plaza, which had clothes shops, restaurants and a great Italian icecream shop at the bottom.
There is a heavy western influence on this area however a totally different feel to walking about in an English city. We did feel safe and there were plenty of taxis around to take us home.
