Re: Beijing Weather

It will be winter and can be quite cold. Can also be snowing. You will need winter clothes. We were there once in late November. It snowed and was quite cold. Coats, hats and gloves were the order of the day.

My sis just got back from Beijing over the weekend. During her 2.5 day stay in the city, she didn't experience snow fall. Though, she saw traces (and a big bulk of ice) near the Great Wall.

Travel Tips for Beijing

Useful Beijing Travel Maps

by Orangetulip

The website below contains maps of famous tourist attractions in Beijing, including the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, The Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace ....

Very clear and useful! You can get an overview of each site in Beijing.

Some of them are really special, hard to find elsewhere! Beijing is a fascinating mix of ancient and modern!

Salvador Dali exhibition at Millenium Museum.

by Guantanamera

During my most recent trip to Beijing, I attended an outstanding exhibition of late Salvador Dali lithographs, watercolors and sculptures... My Portuguese traveling friend Paula, pictured here next to a soft watch sculpture, joined me for the event... Paula was a big fan of Dali, and was so thrilled to see the exhibition on her last day in Beijing...!

Pack something warm if not traveling during summer

by paulwf

Good comfortable walking shoes are required in Beijing especially in large places like the Forbidden Palace.I visited Beijing in April. It was still a bit cool and windy and they had some sand storms. It starts getting much warmer in May I believe. When traveling to the Great Wall or the Summer Palace I suggest you pack some warm clothes as it can be cold and windy. The main reason to visit Beijing is for the historic landmarks so a decent camera is essential.

Safe and exciting place to go at night

by JBourne about Wangfujing Street

Even in April when it was cold this area was busy with tourists and shopping. Shops were open past 9pm and there were plenty of restaurants to choose from.

There were a couple of malls, one which we visited a few times, called the Dong Am Plaza, which had clothes shops, restaurants and a great Italian icecream shop at the bottom.

There is a heavy western influence on this area however a totally different feel to walking about in an English city. We did feel safe and there were plenty of taxis around to take us home.
