A good hotel with a few problems
The CTS hotel is very convenient to the subway and the old exhibition center. The airport express' first stop is close to the hotel. The rooms are good and the breakfast is sufficient. It is also a government rated 4 star hotel, which means a maybe 3 star by most reasonable estimates.
The problems with the hotel seem to be remnants from the old government hotel days.
First, The street is around the corner from the hotel and there is a guard there to control car access. Several times during the day there was no radio communications with the doorman/ security guy. Consequently, taxis were parked near the entrance, but none were being sent up to the people who had been waiting up to 20 minutes. The car entry guard did not aggressively look for taxis even when they did have a communicator. It was extremely difficult to get a taxi most of the time, so I walked down to the street to get the available taxi.
When I arrived, I sent my sport coat to be pressed for a meeting 3 days later. The morning of the meeting I found it had come back ironed! It looked horrible, and maybe screwed up beyond use. The manager sent it down to the laundry for repair, and it came back in usable form. It would seem a professional laundry would know you never take an iron to a suit or sport coat. Theirs did not.
Unique Quality: Close to transportation.
Directions: Take the subway to the San Yuan Qiao (3 yuan bridge) stop on line 10. This stop is shared with the airport express.
