Beijing Airport
by rosemaryhf
What is the easiest way for 4 adults to get from Beijing airport into a hotel in the centre of Beijing? Taxis look too small?
Re: Beijing Airport
by muratkorman
Taxis are small and if you have many luggage, there is no way to fit into one. But you can ask for a large taxi and that is the easiest option. Otherwise, you have to use airport express and metro combination. However, travelling with luggage is not that easy. When you arrive in the taxi stand, ask for a large taxi.

you can ask a local van transportation, most drivers speak English very well.if you need help. let me know that.

A large taxi is the answer. The trip is about 45 minutes or more in peak times at a cost of about 110CNY including the toll fees. It is possible to squeeze 3 adults in the back (one in the front) but not for that amount of time and it depends on your luggage. You can ask for a large taxi at the airport. You may have to wait for a while.

Which hotel exactly?
What time will you arrive? (International flight, I presume.)
How much luggage would you have?
Travel Tips for Beijing
Xin Gong, Liang Xiang
by maysue
Xin Gong, the place where I live in Liang Xiang, has a wet market, bakery shops, bank, laundry shops, beauty salons and other facilities, which are located at the south, east and west gate of the residence area. These gates are guarded by security guards to ensure the safety of the residents who live within Xing Gong. It is supposingly to be a high-class residence area. There are also a few restaurants where hot pot of lamb, a popular winter delicacy among the locals, is served in large portions for those with big appetites!
Outside of Xin Gong, there is a big 3-star hotel and some shopping centers around Liang Xiang. Besides, there is a big park where you can jog or walk to exercise your muscles after a hard day work.
Cultural Street at Liulichang
by sunnywong
This street at Nanxinhua Jie in Xuanwu District got its name from a glazed tile kiln (Liulichang) during the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. For art masters in Beijing it is a place where rare books, antiques, calligraphy and art works are collected.
Renovated in recent years, the facades of shops in the street still keep their original style of the late Qing Dynasty.

Shopping in Beijing
by ElsieChin
There's always a shop selling something for anyone and everyone in Beijing. The shops in Silk Road (pronounced as /Siew Suay Chieh/) which houses labels from all over the world! It's on the main road that takes you to the Forbidden City, Tian An Men Sq, Wangfujing; a short distance from the metro/subway line, and a 10 minute walk from world Trade Ctr. People will tell you that you have to be brutal when it comes to slashing prices but I feel that as long as you are comfortable about the price you are being asked to pay, then there's no such thing as being fleeced or having paid too much. So what if someone gets their jeans initial offer of RMB800 slashed to RMB200 and you got yours at RMB500 when you had a more memorable and enjoyable time and especially when you have never bargained prices in your life. Btw, Wangfujing is akin to premium shopping area.
Booze, Women, Music
by caminolatierra about Sanlitun
Sanlitun Street in Peking is the best place to find (within a small radius) bars, lounges, good restaurants. It's hip and probably collects half of all foreigners in the city on weekends. Good place to meet locals, too. No dress code.
