Great experience, violin and classical music on live every night to get a drink on the lobby, a symphathetic man dress in chiness clothes says hello, good morning or good night everytime you use the elevators, the best gym in town encourages you to stay in form and just some meters away, a great shopping center to buy the best international brands of clothes.

After a mind-blowingly bad experience at the Grand Wanfujing Hotel in Beijing it was an extreme relief and pleasure to stay at the Shangri-La.

For a start, the staff speak great English (always a help in a foreign country). The hotel is very clean and appropriate in all ways for a 5 star hotel. We were impressed with everything, especially the service.

Unique Quality: Situated close to the State Guest House and historical Summer Palace, the Shangri-La Hotel is well located for either business or leisure. It is also near the financial district and Technology Park.

We really enjoyed having a drink at the Garden Bar. A lovely fishpond full of Koi fish adds to the atmosphere.

The restaurants were all good. We really enjoyed the Shang Palace Restaurant.

We did not check out the other amenities there, such as the gym or pool, but are sure they would be of the same standard as the rest.

During my stay in Beijing I was delighted in the standard and the hopsitality of this hotel. The rooms were great - comfortable and spacious and all had high speed internet access (which to my surprise when I checked out was complimentary) - service was at times a bit slow... but I guess China is getting geared for the Olympic Games.
