Location, location........
Not so much to recommend as to say "hey, I stayed there". The walls and floor were thin and we could actually heard chairs being pushed around........worse yet, a couple having a noisy fight in a nearby room.
Another unique feature of this hotel/hostel is even the guests from the private rooms have to use the shared bath/toilet facilities which are separated into Male/Female sides. The shower rooms are communal and have only shower curtains around each cubicle (yes, you heard right.......no doors between them). They also pushed the lock inside all the way so the door to the showers could not be locked.
Dorm bed: 60 yuan
Room: 160 yuan and up
Unique Quality: The best part about City Central IYH is its location near Beijing Zhan (main) train station. It is also literally a stone's throw from Subway Line 2 (Beijing Zhan). The airport shuttle bus #3 also makes its final stop here (if you're going the reverse way, this is where the bus starts on its route back to the airport). There are also several different bus stations 5 to 10 mins walk from this hostel, which is aptly named.
With the recent opening in Oct 2007 of Subway Line 5, many more hotels are now on the subway route (direct or with transfer). So if you're looking for a centrally located hotel, there are now more choices.
