Harmony Hotel Beijing

First of all the Hotel location is really good being just a short walk to the Beijing Railway station, grocery stores and fastfood restaurant. The rooms are clean and quiet, towels and bedroom slippers are even changed everyday. Best value for your money. The breakfast buffet is just average though but the overall the service is more than what you would expect from a 3 star hotel.

So convenient......

I really enjoyed this hotel tho some may think the location not so hot. Very close to Beijing Railway station I found it ideal as I travelled by tube and train a lot . You could also walk to may places of interest - hutongs, shopping centres etc.

I also loved the small restaurants around this area. As most of them catered for Chinese travellers they had good food at cheap prices.

The hotel was clean, staff friendly and the bar served good beer!

Unique Quality: No pool, no views to speak off, just a really convenient hotal.

In Harmony with Beijing

A 3 star hotel in a great location and next to some of Beijing's remaining hutongs - make sure you take a walk through one of these if you get a chance. We had some fantastic egg butties for breakfast off the streets and had the best meal of my whole trip to China in a small backstreet restaurant behind the hotel.

Unique Quality: 30 minutes from the airport. Close to the subway and Tianenmen Square.

Harmony Hotel

If you arrive in Beijing by train, the location of Harmony Hotel is perfect and there is just a 5-10 minutes walk from Beijing Central Station to the hotel. Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City are also reachable by foot, but it takes around 30 minutes from the hotel.

Harmony Hotel was nice and clean; nice rooms with big bathrooms, comfortable beds and cable TV - we had no problems at all. The staff was very friendly and they helped us with transportation and general questions about the city. Ask for one of their business cards with the name of the hotel written in Chinese because many taxi drivers doesn’t speak English.

Breakfast was included in the room rate, but else the restaurant at the hotel was rather expensive. Instead you could consider visiting one of the small local restaurants in the area (chicken, rice and a beer only 2-3 USD).

Reasonable hotel in convenient location

The Harmony Hotel is located near the Beijing Railway Station with very easy access to the subway and local buses.

The hotel is quite comfortable with reliable hot water, comfy rooms but unfortunately the beds are really hard. Like most hotels, the rooms have cable but in my room the English channels didn't work (not that you're there for the TV anyway!!). The hotel is very clean though and those on a medium budget would be quite happy here.

Unique Quality: The hotel has a bar and a restaurant and it's Y30 for a buffet breakfast which includes both western and chinese options. The drinks are more expensive than outside of the hotel though, so it's not the place to have a big drinking night!

Basic hotel

This hotel was pretty basic, it was close to most things in Beijing. A short taxi ride to the Forbidden City and Tian anmen Square. Lots of shopping near by also. If you are just looking for a place to sleep, this will work out nicely.

Undiscovered and Unheralded

Harmony Hotel is a great place to stay. They had good service (although not many of their staff speak English) and their staff will try to help you as much as they can. I particularly liked their doorman who never failed to greet us with a smile and even talked to the cab drivers to take us to our destinations. (Needless to say, we usually mangled the pronounciation.=))
They have affordable laundry service and will return your clothes to you, neatly pressed. However, they'll return your clothes which are in danger of being ripped to pieces.=)
The room is relatively spacious and has all the basic aminities (ie. private bath and tv). The room we stayed in also provided a safe. Their complementary tea is always replenished each day (probably because we kept requesting that they clean our room =))
A couple of disadvantages aside from non-English speaking staff: 1) they don't change currencies on Sunday so we had to go to one of the bigger hotels to have our currency changed; 2) they don't have their own hotel to airport transportation. They contact one of the local cabs and it's separately charged from the hotel bill. The cab fare is 200 yuan, 100 yuan higher than what we paid to a driver we bargained with in the airport in our first day; and 3) they'll annoy you with morning calls asking if you'd like to try out their spa.

All in all, it was a pleasurable place to stay in. Very affordable and it's near the subway and railway station.

Unique Quality: They have a great bathtub! =)

Close to the station

The Harmony Hotel is close to the railway station and the subway. Therefor it is a good strating point to get around Beijing.
If you are keen on walking you can walk to the Tiananmen square and the Forbidden City it is about 30-45 minutes walking.

The hotel has good spacious rooms with a clean bathroom. There was hot water in a thermos in our room to make some tea. That came in handy the first afternoon when heavy rain struck Beijing and we decided to stay in our room. There is a bar in the hotel, but it is small and not so very attractive.
The breakfast was not included, but for 30 Yuan we had a buffet breakfast with chinese and western food items. Worth the money.

They also have an internet connection. It was reasonably fast and we could get on VT within seconds. The downside was the price for 1 Yuan per minute opposite the three yuan for one hour in an internet cafe in the hutong some streets away. The internet cafe was not as reliable tough, some group members tried there a few times before they had connection.

A good location

In Beijing we stayed in the Harmony Hotel.
To me that was a good way to start our 4 week roundtrip.

The room was spacious and very clean. In the bathroom there was soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb (as in most Chinese hotels). The room was quiet.

For breakfast there was a buffet, with Western and Chinese dishes. The price for breakfast . . . . well, one day I payed 30 yuan, and the next day I only payed 20 yuan, so it was not really clear what the exact price was.

Unique Quality: There was a business centre with (expensive) internet possibilities. It was much cheaper at the internetcafe near the Hutong quarter just behind the hotel.

The location was great, only a few minutes of walk towards the Beijingzhan Metro Station. And from there you could discover the whole City for a few Yuan.

There were also plenty of taxis near the railway station.
