Best Western Premier
by hollywood2006 about accomodations
hotel was alright..it was clean. the staff didnt speak much english..the free breakfast wasnt that great..i mostly ate the breads and fruit. the room was small but clean. only one electrical outlet in the bathroom and no alarm clock. this hotel was a part of our packagen so i didnt have a choice. there are only 2 elevators in the hotel so i found myself waiting for sometimes 5 minutes for the elevator. i discovered the holiday inn lido... i would have stayed there instead. we ate dinner there one night and the food was good. the hotel also had a lot of shops and their staff seemed to be fluent in english. our room did have a view of beijing but i believ we were in the business district

Get a good night's sleep before Climbing the Wall
by JCtheEE
Mutianyu is a section of the Great Wall that can be reached from Beijing in a day trip. The other two sections are Badaling(very touristy and commercialized) and Simatai(haven't visited this one). I enjoyed this trip because it wasn't over-crowded and the wall could be walked at my own pace. For this trip, I hired a driver who had been waiting in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Lido for someone like me to happen along. Travelling at my own pace and keeping my own schedule was worth the $50 (400rmb) that I paid.

Thanks Chinagazer. You saved me the trouble.
Recommended only as a real last resort. if you can afford it, the nearby Sino-Swiss is very good (although feeling dated now) but it does have some good restaurants (not reviewed yet, but good).
The Holiday Inn Lido, Rosedale and other hotels in that area are only about 15 minutes further from the airport than the Airport Garden. Book ahead with Holiday Inn directly and you get good rates.
