Beijing - Airport Hotel

by glenn57

Can anyone suggest a hotel near the Beijing international airport for less than $80 US for a single ? Anything for less than $60 US ?

How near is near? When are you staying?

Near enough that the hotel picls people up at the airport to take them to their hotel - maybe within 10 km.

This would be in the month of October - I plan way in advance !

I don't quite understand why you'd want to live close to the airport, as it is far away from the city, nothing around worth seeing, and the facilities are usually not that good.
Hotels around the airport are cheaper, you can definitely find one for around 50$ EASILY, as the location is not so desirable. But for the airport pick-up service, you might have to negotiate with the hotel, they might charge you a little more for your room so they can make it look like they gave you free pick-up service (which is pretty much the same with a lot of the hotels in the city).

Anyways, good luck: Beijing Hang Lv Hotel Tel: 010-86412992、010-86412991 (50$)
Beijing Zhonghang Konggang Hotel Tel:010-89407676 (41$)
Beijing Xin Hang An Hotel Tel: 010-81465656 (75$)--free pick-up service included

Thanks so much. The reason I'd like to stay near the airport is just that I will be overnighting in Beijing on my way between Burma and San Francisco. I will have already visited Beijing at an earlier time on this trip, so I won't need to see more sites (nor will I have time).

Travel Tips for Beijing

Forbidden City Moat

by chewy3326

Walking along the north side of Gugong (The Forbidden City), you can see the walls that surround it as well as the moat. Humorously, a sign here states no fishing in the moat, though you'll find plenty of people wading in and fishing. Interesting place. If you're walking this stretch along Wusi Dajie, be sure to walk alongside the moat and not alongside the road, where the views aren't so good.

Please do not spit

by rui_bijie

Spitting is really common - in order to prevent SARS the government tried to ban spitting in public places. The Olympics 2008 are another reason why Beijing tries to clean up.

Mayor Liu Qi has embarked on another mission to reshape human nature. He outlined six areas for attention: Spitting, cursing, disorderly queuing, not apologising and not smiling. He had decided to embark on an effort to change human nature to eliminate these strongly ingrained habits.

Let's see whether he is successful in this ambitious attempt.

Sanlitun by day

by Oda_

To soak up the athmosphere of Beijing our teacher took us to a Sanlitun to show us the contrast between night and daytime. This place is a really popular family spot in summer but relatively quiet in winther. After dark Sanlitun is also a popular bar area.

Wangfujing

by mafi_moya

Wangfujing is central Beijing's most fashionable shopping district. A short walk east of the Forbidden City, it's a mix of international stores full of designer clothes and narrow alleys of antiques and food stalls. There are also cinemas and giant bookstores (with decent English language departments). The main street is pedestrianised and ideal for browsing. At the south end, Oriental Plaza offers exclusive shops and high fashions, while further north the prices are a bit more affordable. Even if you don't need to buy anything, it's a good area for people-watching and checking out the richer, more fashionable side of Beijing.

Pubs

Beijingers refer to...

by Chris_Dahlia

Pubs

Beijingers refer to Sanlitun Lu as the ' Golden Street', which may have as much to do with the price of real estate as the fact that business is booming here. Sanlitun Lu must account for about 75% of the expat bar-cafes in town.
Jazz Ya is an enormous place and one of the busiest expat night spots in Beijing. The official address is 18 Sanlitun Beilu, although it's actually hidden in a small alley just to the east of the main road. It's open 10.30am to 2am.
Nearby, Dai Sy's Pub at 48 Sanlitun Lu is a very popular spots and has outdoor tables. It opens early and is a good spot for lunch and dinner.
Maggie's Bar on Xinyuan Lu is the place to go if you want to stay out all night- operating hours are typically from 6pm to 5am.
