Best budget hotel by Wangfujing

by Epesodic

Hi, my family and I will be in Bejing on March 23-31. We want to book 3 rooms in a centrally located area by Wangfujing, Forbidden City, Tianamen Square. It would be nice if the rooms are clean and in a nice area. I had reserved 3 rooms at the Oriental Peace Hotel and also 3 rooms at the Shatan Hotel Bejing. Has anyone stayed there? Any other hotel recommendation under $50/night would be greatly appreciated.

I usually stay at a hotel within walking distance of the railway station. In fact it backs onto the track, but noise is not a problem. Name is Zhong An. I think a reasonable room is less than 250RMB (3-star)(US$1=7.3RMB) You can get bus #10 from railway station to Tiananmen for 3rmb. Or metro, which is not so convenient.

Travel Tips for Beijing

Tian An Men Square and Gate

by nepalgoods

This photo is taken from the Tian An Men Gate, where I stood directly over the big Mao portrait. The entrance fee is very expensive. And I think it is not worth it. But for the Chinese people this Gate is very important as Mao Zedong proclaimed the formal establishment of the People's Republik here. That was on Oct. 1st 1949. I was there around Oct 1st 1993 invited by the Beijing Language Institute (no entrance fee :) ). The Tian An Men Suqare was full of flowers and people.

Good qulaity , reasonable price !

by Sally_chen about YA XIU MARKET

Good location, close to SAN LI TUN diplomatic zon. It's a 4 story building , shopping inside. Not like silk market, you need to walk outside in a narror street.
The general quality of the goods here are competitive to any other similar market in Beijing . You can find clothes/shoes/bags/bed stuff/silk/snack ...a bit of everything...
Very busy during weekend as many local also comes here .
You need to have a good bargain skill to get the fair price. Normally I start at 30% from what they asked . My bottom line is not more than 40% .
Last Sunday I was there , I bought one cotton sweater and one sport treasures , the origional offer was RMB260, the final price I paied was 110.
Just to give you an idea!

I am sure you will not come out with blank hands!

Line 13 Dongzhimen - Xizhimen

by alaskamaximus

Above ground for most of it's length. Takes about 60 min to do a full one-way trip. Electronic Ticketing setup so if you are transfering from Line 2, you will need to change your transfer slip for an electronic tag for the gate machines to read.
