A room to retire to after a long day.

Brand new, 5 star hotel. Conveniently located. Taxi ride away from most places of interest. Shops, restaurants and massage parlour located within walking distance. Staff are nice and friendly and beds are soft and comfy especially after a long day of walking and sightseeing. There is also a pool located on the 2nd floor, If you are up for a swim, the facilities and service here is outstanding. Only downside, is that the hotel is quite crowded. Getting down to lobby by elevator can be a mission.

Great lodging

A very nice hotel close to the Beijing railway station. Excellent service and rooms at a low price (by western standards)

Hair Dryers Provided By Hotels Common?

by ndturbo

My wife and I will be in Beijing for 4 days starting on the 18th of this month. We will be staying at the Hotel New Otani Chang Fu Gong. We were wondering if it's common for hotels in China to provide hair dryers for their guests? We will also be in Xian, and Shanghai in this same trip, 12 days in China total. I couldn't find any info about the New Otani regarding hair dryers. Any info anyone might have would be helpful. We don't feel like taking our hair dryer along with us.

Thanks.

Yes, if you access their web site and click on rooms, standard, even though the web site does not tell you there is one in the room, you can see it in the picture of the bathroom and that it sits right next to the wall telephone.

Most hotels I stayed in China, even the moderate price ones had hair dryers. I am sure that any four star and above has them or I would ask the front desk.So I think it is pretty common.

All that being said, we have run into problems that the hair dryer in our room was inoperative or missing and no spares could be found by the front desk. With my hair line, this is not an issue, but my wife seems to care, so she almost always has a small travel one in her suitcase, just in case.

Thanks for the answers. It sounds like the hotels have hair dryers so we'll go with that. One less thing to pack is always good!
