Nice, Expensive......but not what I expected !!!!
Ok, I have to say this hotel is nice, and expensive for Beijing. Located on Financial Street, this hotel better get better if it expects to survive with the international traveling cummunity (there is Ritz-Carlton, and Westin Hotel opening in the next 2 months right next to each other). The staff does speak some English, but must get better.....had problems getting simple answers to questions. The hotel concierge needs to learn what are the best high end restaurants that are in his city. He didn't know none of the ones I want to eat at !!!! The location is OK, right off the 2nd ring road, and the noise is a HUGE problem in the rooms....they didn't put noise reduction or sound proff windows, you'll hear every beep, every scream 25 floors up......Just those small details will prevent me from staying there again....The rooms itself are nice and pretty big with nice bathrooms, but the beds are some of the hardest beds you'll ever lay on 2 thumbs down for the beds !!!!!

Intercontinental Hotel - Beijing ** new hotel
This is a brand new hotel ...... in the Financial Street ... hence it's ...... new lah... from everything ... but perhaps abit too new, cos there is nothing much around the hotel ?!?!!!
Exterior, it looks grand ... typical Intercontinental hotel standard. very friendly concierge and bell service, picking up your luggages and sending your room.
It is along the main road, so nothing interesting nor fancy ... but if you are on business trip and need to get to the Financial Street, it is a good location - cos u basically avoid the jam at the Tian An Men Square .... if u r on tour, guess this place is not too convenient as yet....
There is a pharmacy - small one, across the street and a branch of Bank of China is next to the building, incase you need to exchange more RMB for shopping - the hotel rates are no stranger - ridiculous rates hahah ...
btw Riz Carlton is building its hotel just down the road...

Unique Quality: If you are a fan of AIGNER toiletries ... here u go !!! From shampoo, conditioner to body lotion..... but somehow the smell reminds me of CK Eternity ... hhhmm...
The rooms are big and zen-ish .... the bathroom is really nice ... i like the see-thru design from the glass with bamboo blinds, u get to watch the plasma TV while soaking in your favourite spa treat (if you bring it of cos) ... if not, you can make do with the oatmeal soap.

InterContinental Financial Street Beijing
Excited with my stay in this hotel. Great service, nice located (2nd ring road) and close to subway station. Service and stuff are just great. We stayed five nights in a superior suite (honeymooners) and they even offered us an aroma-therapy bath free of charge as a wedding present...
When we got there (Jun 2005) the hotel has opened only for a month or so.
