First Hotel Stay in Beijing

Was excited staying at this 5 Star Hotel as it was my first time in Beijing. The hotel was brand new and as once as my bags were in the hotel room, I took a taxi to Tiananmen Square.

Realized that hotel was a distance away but negotiated the price with the taxi driver before hand.

As everything was new, had a pleasant stay at this hotel. Great memories.

Jing Guang New World Hotel

We stayed here on a tour price, which was very reasonable. You can get details abput reservations from the website: http://www.newworldhotels.com/reservation.asp

Unique Quality: The Jing Guang Hotel was very nice and had a good variety of restaurants and amenities. There is a food court in the basement which is reasonably priced, serving a variety of chinese foods. Dynasty, another chinese restaurant, is more pricey, and we didn't actually try it. Cafe Renaissance is where the buffet breakfast is served daily, and they have a good western style dinner menu. It's a bit pricey (A$16+ per meal) but you can get some great food and the specials are reasonable. The staff here were fantastic and you never had to wait for anything. There is also a couple of bars/ coffee places in the hotel. The hotel also had a small grocery store, a souvineer shop, bank of China branch, gym, pool, spa, sauna, steam room, massage service and beauty salon. It's very conveniently located and is a short walk to the Landao shopping centre. The rooms were comfortable and have tea/coffee making facilities and a mini bar. You get a free bottle of water each day (you can't drink the tap water unless you boil it), and you can buy water for @US$1 in the store downstairs.
