Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center

For a $100 a night hotel, this is my preferred place. I stay regularly for business as it is convenient for the 4th and 5th rings on the east side. This is important if you want to reduce the chance of getting caught in grid-lock at rush hour 8-10am and 4-7pm. It is definitely worse on 2nd and 3rd rings.
The rooms are comfortable and fairly typical of good quality hotels. They are not the newest but are well maintained.
Breakfast is average fair.
Wired and wireless internet is fast, and it seems if you get onto the executive floors (which I get accasionally without asking) it is free.

Unique Quality: Not a hotel for great views. Close to Sanlitun Bar area.

Very satisfying

This is a very nice hotel with splendid public areas and a great selection of restaurants. Liked the Italian one a lot. Rooms however are only a bit above 5 star average as the furnishing looks old but is well-maintained. I was very delighted to receive friendly and efficient service throughout the hotel and not that kind of excessive one where they take your hand. Location is great if you're not a regular tourist but more focusing on business, shopping and dining. On-ground department store carries expensive Western brands but the supermarket in the basement is convenient.

Unique Quality: The pool scene is really nice, while the lobby lounge is stylish but yet very comfortable. There is also a colorful and rather quiet garden that is a safe harbor in busy Beijing.

Golden Resources: Beijing Lufthansa Center

by Nprawira about Beijing Lufthansa Center

If you are coming from the Beisanhuan Xilu, this building will most likely be your first sight of the Golden Resources Mall, that is if you are not stuck in a crowded bus that limit your vision to the guy standing 2 inches from you. The Beijing Lufthansa Center or Youyi Shopping City can actually stand as a noteworthy mall by itself. But such is the enormous size of the Golden Resources that this mall-within-a-mall is only a small wing part of the whole complex. In the basement are housing goods, electronics, sporting goods, and children's goods. 1st floor: Cosmetics, watches & glasses, boutiques, and jewellery. 2nd floor: Men's fashion. 3rd floor: Ladies' fashion. 4th floor: Restaurants. 5th floor: A cinema. What you would normally see in an up-market shopping mall.
