Just a brief stay of one night, and then moved on to another hotel. Forgot exactly how much we paid, but it was between RMB 250 to 300 for two people. The place is just a little old and tired, but the price is comparable to similiar accomondations with good location.

Unique Quality: Centrally located but quiet.

We were very satisfied with the Lishi Hotel. Paid about A$400 for two weeks. Basic accommodation, but has air conditioning, restaurant, etc. Kept cash in hotel safe and exchanged American $ for yuan at very fair rates - convenient.

Unique Quality: The best thing about the Lishi is that it is in a hutong. You are a living, breathing part of Chinese history! Right outside the door you'll find quant Chinese restaurants serving delicious fare very cheaply. The Dong Chen district is very centrally located, close to Wanfujing, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the Temple of Heaven, Confucius Temple etc.

My daughter and I stayed here in 2002 and it was exceptional value for money. The bedrooms were large, clean and well equiped. The only restaurant was authentic Chinese.

Unique Quality: View of hutong (ancient walled compound of small houses without any facilities) and walking distance (10 min) from Wangfujing shopping street and a little further to the Forbidden City or Jingshan Park.
