This is a reasonably new 3 star hotel so everything looks quite new. All the furniture & facilities were still in nice condition. My room was a budget room - with a single bed and no windows - for US$41 per night including breakfast - but met and exceeded my needs and expectations. Would stay here again. I don't know why no one has mentioned this hotel before - it is a 3 star hotel trying to be 4+ star hotel, and the staff generally speak enough English to get by.
The breakfast buffet will suit a variety of tastes but is biased towards western tastes. However no split between smokers and non smokers. The hotel is very close to a huge variety of restaurants so I would avoid the hotel's own restaurant for dinner.
The hotel is about 2 mins walk from the famous Wangfujing Street shopping area, and about 15-20 mins walk to the Forbidden City.
A variety of bus tours seem to start from outside the hotel possibly because Wangfujing Street is not open to traffic. The hotel is an agent for a tour company. The best value tour seems to be the all day tour to Badaling Great Wall & Ming Tombs for 190 yuan per person including lunch.
