by GraceH

An acquaintance once told me to make sure to have my astrology or birth chart done when I went to China. But I wouldn't know where to go. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: Chinese Astrology/Birth Charts

Yep I am sure your your Chinese birth chart will guides you around China..Just kidding. Your local Librarian will be able to find books about Chinese astrology or culturs or use internet search engines such as Googles or Yahoo. They calender is using lunar year so every 12 years they have leap month or extra month. So if a person was born in late January (like me) the birth sign might not get the ringht one, because they New Year comes in between late January to early February. Travel Tips for Beijing

Great Wall : the stairs

by GUYON

Climb on the stairs of the Great Wall in Badaling. The steps have not the same hight, one is quickly exhausted. Other parts of the path are slopings. Do not forget good shoes when you will be there. On the path of the Great Wall, there are a lot of sellers. It is difficult to escape because they use to walk by the stairs and they go faster than you. Tiring to climb but with a seller behind saying 'How much. How much ?' because he wants to bargain its stuff... it is the dark side of the attraction.

A day tour through hutongs

by sunnywong

A day tour through hutongs gives you fresh insight into Beijing's local life.

* Start from the north entrance to Beihai Park by old-fashioned pedicab to the picturesque Shishahai Lake area.

* Visit Gu Lou, the Drum Tower, where visitors will enjoy a bird's eye view of the old city.

* Visit the neighbourhood in the rear Shishahai Lake area and walk in hutongs to drop in one or two courtyard- style homes and, if arranged, meal with a family.

* Visit the mansion and garden of Prince Gong of the Qing Dynasty.

Good Beijing Subway

by althaus

The Beijing Subway is relatively easy to use to get around the city and the stations around the Forbidden City area is quite clean, though I can't say about the rest of the stations.
The carriages are quite good and the speed is good, allows you to travel fast around the city area.
