A Prime location

This probably was the best room I had while in China. The interior was very plush and clean and I believe it had been recently renovated. There was a Drum celebration close by the first night, but the other evenings were very quiet although it is in a busy section on Beijing.

Loved the Prime Hotel

This was a great---and cheap!--place to stay. My sister and I visited Beijing August 2004 and were quite comfortable at this hotel. Our room was large, the beds comfortable, the bathroom was sparking. The breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent---and cheap! The staff was helpful and polite.
The Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square were within walking distance, or a short cab ride. The hotel is in an interesting location---you know you are in Beijing as soon as you step out the door. We loved walking around (except for the fact that it was as hot and humid as DC).
Yes, I recommend the Prime Hotel without hesitation!

Prime Hotel

This hotel was delightful. The facilities were excellent, the room lovely, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. This is a government owned hotel, and totally first class!

Unique Quality: We enjoyed the location of this hotel in that it was only a 15 minute walk to the Forbidden City. Wang Fujing Avenue is a busy shopping street that was fun to walk at night.

The Great Wall Sheraton

The Great Wall Sheraton
See official website. For a discount rate, search online reservation service, or become a 'Starwood' member.

Unique Quality: The first, if not one of the few, first western luxury hotel built in 1980s in Beijing since 1949.

As its name, part of its wall mimics the Great Wall of China.

Good hotel Fare

by geekgrrl about Prime Hotel Wangfujing Restaurant

We ate breakfast here every morning and dinner a few nights. The buffets were excellent, and a great deal for the money. The staff was excellent. Breakfast was $8 and dinner was $11 with a buffet, drink and dessert. The buffets were a combination of local and Western. At breakfast I especially liked the rice cooked in bamboo dim sum.

Prime Hotel or???

by TimShanafelt

I have stayed at the Prime Hotel a couple of times and have enjoyed it, reasonable price and decent location, but wanted to try something different. Are there any suggestions for something similar in this location that is better?

Also, are there any GOOD Hotels near the Airport for an overnight stay?

I've stayed at the Sino-Swiss hotel close to the airport a couple of times when flying out from Beijing capital and have been happy with that place. (I loved the breakfast buffet, lots of nice breads which is hard to find in China :)

Website: http://www.sino-swisshotel.com/english/index.htm, though I always book through sinohotel.com.
