What or is there any transport from the city to the rowing center?

Re: transport

by honestjohn

Do you mean the Rowing Center for the 2008 Olympic? if yes. There are trains and flights to go to the center.
Trains: from Beijing to Qingdao Sifang
D51 06:50 12:43 5h53m
D55 11:20 17:13 5h53m
D59 15:50 21:43 5h53m
T25 22:20 06:45 8h25m
T195 22:50 07:24 8h34m
for the flights, there are too many from Beijing to Qingdao to list.

Yes,one is located in Qingdao-Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center.
The Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park is in Beijing.
There will be free shuttle bus during Olympic games.
But as far as I know there is not public transportation from city to there directly now.
The most convenient transportation is by driving.

Travel Tips for Beijing

Convenience Stores

by machomikemd

Convenience Stores are numerous in the Beijing area and are life savers since they are opend 24 hours. But off course the trade off is that prices or slightly more expensive here than supermarkets ok due to the higher operating costs. like what i've said in previous tips, a 500 ml bottle here costs 6 RMB, an Aluminum Can of Beer at 8 RMB and a pack of cigarettes at 15 RMB. most don't speak english so just get the items you want and pay at the cashier and remember ask for and pay 0.25 RMB extra for the plastic bag! they don't give free plastic bags in china so you must pay for each plastic bag!

There are a lot of...

by SirRichard

There are a lot of interesting things to buy in China. From pottery to silk, from oriental medicines to papercuts, like the one in the photo. The best place to buy them is in Beijing, as you normally leave the country by plane from the capital city; besides, they are not much cheaper elsewhere.

Modern art in old factory

by Lemonita

I am so glad that I discovered this place, it seems to be the trendiest place to go these days in Beijing. Dashanzi ,located in the North West, along the road to the airport is an industrial complex.
(no.2 JiuXianQiao road, Chaoyang District)
If you have problems in finding this place, you can for instance call "White Space Beijing" (one of the art galleries at Dashanzi) at 8456 2054.

A few of the factories are still running but most of them are deserted. Recently, people from the Art world have rented these places to exhibit their own works such as paintings or photos.
It's pretty amazing and unexpected to see modern art in factories. We wondered in it and whenever we see a poster for a gallery, we went in. Also, there are a few cafes/restaurants opened inside this industrial complex. I really liked it and think it's worth a visit.

Gaobeidian - antiques

by mke1963 about Gaobeidian

Crusty expats in Beijing spend whole evenings ridiculing each others' favourite antique dealer. Whether its at Hongqiao, Liulichang, or halfway up Jingshun Lu, everyone has "their" fave antique dealer. These dealers usually have quaint names like Lily, Grace or Stella, improbably 1950s names given youthful vigour by the relish of relieving 40-something big corporation laowai wives of their cash.

I will join the fray, to sounds of "Oh darling....that area is so 2003"

Go to Gaobeidian, on the east side of town. Fifteen minutes east of Guo Mao. Most taxi drivers know the area. This is where the cargo boats used to unload when they arrived in Beijing. It is now where there are a lot of wholesalers moving large voulmes of antiques. Much of it goes into containers bound for Hong Kong. These are magic containers because en-route, the contents increase in value by a huge amount. When the doors open in Kowloon, everything is suddenly worth 50 times as much. Buy at this end; skip the magic container!

Friday traffic

by mke1963

Traffic in Beijing is *particularly* bad on Friday afternoons from around 3pm until 7pm.
It can take up to 2 hours to get from Guo Mao to Beijing Xi station, for example - a journey that usually takes about 45 minutes.

Be careful if you are going to the airport for a flight.

At this time, especially, you should avoid the northbound East 3rd Ring Road (Guo Mao to Lufthansa) and use the East 4th Ring Road if ttravelling out to Shunyi or the airport.
