Across the road from The Temple Of Heaven

The R J brown is a boutique style hotel that is close to a lot of the major attractions in Beijing.

The rooms were a good size, there was internet access, a bar and restaurant and the staff were more than friendly.

Nothing was too much trouble and the employees all spoke good english.

Beijings only boutique hotel

This hotel is great. Its very friendly, has a resident tailor, 1/2 hour walk to the centre of town or 5 mins walk to a bus stop and the bus fare is 1RMB.

The rooms are largish, clean, free adsl internet in rooms (lan cord provided.)

There is a convenience store next door to get that cheap beer and the hotel provides a cafe area serving pizza etc.

It is also only 5 mins walk to the temple of heaven.

The breakfast is adequate, and I did have the most wonderful lemon chicken here the only night I had dinner here.

Excellently affordable!

I recently stayed at the RJ Brown Hotel in the Tian Qiao area of Beijing (just west of the Temple of Heaven). It was fairly inexpensive, clean, FRIENDLY & HELPFUL staff (ask for Joe), had great breakfasts, and reasonable internet access. They have their own website (rj-brown-hotel.com I think?) and email them for rates. 1 bus from that area took me to the Forbidden City and subway routes. Getting to the airport might be tricky, however. I took an airport shuttle (16RMB) and it got me nowhere near the hotel--but the cab I took after I jumped off the shuttle only cost my 30RMB, so it's pretty cheap. They also have laundry services, free bottled water, a nice lounge, etc.

Unique Quality: Internet (10RMB for 1/2 hr), free bottled water, breakfast & dinner available, can arrange tours, laundry services, helpful ENGLISH speaking staff. Ask for Joe!

Taxi prices

by SandiM

I am staying at the RJ Brown Hotel during my trip to China. The proprietor suggested I take an 'autobus' (what's that??? where do I catch it??) from the airport to the Beijing Train Station, then grab a taxi to the hotel. According to the map, it doesn't look to be too far from the RJ Brown Hotel. What should I expect to pay for a taxi, or is it walkable if I am female, 39, and have 1 pullman & a backpack? I'll hit town around 6pm. Or should I simply take a taxi from the airport directly and pay more?

Beijing airport transfer

by Confucius

Most likely a reference to Beijing Airport's shuttle bus service, which only costs around 16 RMB. It is a good idea to take the airport bus downtown first and then transfer to a taxi. The taxi should not be more than 20 RMB from the train station.
