Tian bao hotel

by 1jabbar

Has anyone stayed at the Tian Bao Hotel before. An Asian friend recommended this place, but when I goggle (map) its location, I get two different locations for the same hotel. Both places are south of Forbidden City: one looks about 15-20 min. walk to Tianamen Square the other looks much farther (45 min.)Anyway if you have some information plese feel free to share. Cheers

I am a citizen live in Beijing. The farther one is Tian Bao Hotel. And it is right name in English is Timbo Hotel. The loaction of the hotel is little far from the city center but nearby a subway station heading to the downtown of Beijing.

It doesn't look like it's near Tiananmen Square at all.

Re: Thanks...Tian bao hotel

Thanks for the help (Tian Bao is too far from Forbidden City for a short walk). I believe we're booking at the Redwall hotel which is very close. Again thanks.

Other hotels which're definitely within walking distance to the Forbidden City include CityTel Inn, Tang Yue Hotel and Nanjing Hotel.

Travel Tips for Beijing

Map of Beihai Park

by meteorologist1

Beihai Park is one of many parks in Beijing. It is located just northwest of the Forbidden City. Beihai Park is a fairly interesting park. A large part of it is made up of a lake, where you can take a boat ride or rent a boat. There is a peninsula that sticks out into the middle of the lake, and on it there is a white pagoda situated on a small hill. There are many other things in the park too, like the Nine Dragon Screen. The picture is a map of the park for your convenience.

Night time eats

by Chip_Master about Wangfujing Street

No visit is complete without visiting the night market and the exotic eats. Until you see it you can't believe it; scropions, millepedes, starfish, grasshoppers and beatles are for sale for the daring!

Take the bus or underground where possible

by josieling

If you take the taxis, go for the cheapest, ie the ones which have te 1.50 sticker on the window. Be prepared to take the scenic route because they will almost always drive you around in loops. Remember Beijing has FOUR ring roads.
Also, if you don't speak Mandarin, have your hotel write you the address of your destination.
