A tourist hotel, for individual or group travellers, that offers good value for money. Our family of 3 stayed here 3 nights and enjoyed clean, comfortable accomodations: hard mattress but not uncomfortable, fresh smelling linen and duvet, clean bathroom. Breakfast selection is generally Chinese, but there is a variety to choose from. Travellers should try them as part of their experience and will end up with a fairly heavy tummy, good for a busy day of sightseeing and shopping. No foreign cable channels available in our room. No free wifi. Usage costs RMB18 per hour. No "automatic" daily replenishment of toilet soap. You have to ask for it. Staff at the reception counter are capable of simple English. However, they can't be rushed when processing your transaction, such as at check-out. Location is not in a modern section of the city, but this is not necessarily a minus factor. The hotel is recommended especially to travellers who are curious about and want to absorb as much local life as his travel time permits. There are interesting sights around the hotel. Surroundings include residential apartments, a big hospital, and many small shops, groceries, fruit and vegetable stands, some hutongs, bus stops, foot and body massage parlors, and even a 24-hr sex shop. Tourists are advised to walk around the hotel early in the morning to observe, and better still taste, local hawker food being prepared and sold to people for their breakfast. Bread, dimsum, noodles, rice cakes, sesame balls, sandwiches are plentiful. Tables are laid out in side streets, with people enjoying their breakfast. Quite interesting sights after one gets enough sightseeing dosage of massive and tall glass and steel buildings containing banks, offices, high end shops and residential apartments amidst beautifully landscaped avenues in the new or redeveloped parts of the city.
