3-star rating with good service
by LrSorr about Xi-Yuan Hotel
This hotel has excellent service for a 3-star rating. It has at least 4 restaurants and one of them is a revolving one on the top floor. The rooms are clean which includes a safety deposit box and a mini bar.
It has all the amenities that you will need including a massage parlor, spa and a gift shop. My ex beau (inset) and I decided to get a "Chinese massage". He was hoping to get a girl but was soo disappointed to get a toothless, skinny guy who massaged the crap out of him. My bf was so traumatized by this experience... "Honey, he massaged my butt too!" Apparently, in Mainland or maybe in this hotel, it's male to male, female to female service. It's directly across the street from the Beijing Zoo. What a delight for those who's never seen a Panda bear! I know I was psyched... get to see Chin-Chin and it's walking distance!
A comfortable place in the west

My mum stayed here thr first time she came to China and so i stayed for a couple of nights too! A four star hotel which is included in many tour trips as the accomodation. Very comfortable pillows and beds, Satelite TV as well as local Chinese channels.
A restaurant downstairs selling both Chinese and Western food and a buffet breakfast, again with a mixture of food from both continents. All round a very good hotel. There is also a revolving restaurant on the roof!
The Manager is an English guy I believe who was friendly and welcoming to us. He has since helped my mum find accomodation in Shanghai when she last came out giving her details of their sister hotels in Shanghai.
A good hotel to stay at if you have children studying in Beijing, as most universities are in the West of the city. Very handy! I dont think it had a pool but it did have a Korean Restaurant!
Right opposite is a Carrefour Supermarket just in case you go crazy with Chinese food every night! It is in the west of Beijing where theyre aren't many good hotels, so it made for a nice surprise!

Can anyone recommend a restaurant near the Xiyuan Hotel, 1 Sanlihe road, Beijing 100044? Looking for "local" food, not Western or fusion.

That area has lots of hole in the walls as i call them. You have Carrefour Supermarket opposite you and a strip of bars with some Chinese restaurants near too. Its hard to pinpoint just one..have a walk around and you'll come across several.
