Budget Hotel Near Subway Transportation and SOGO
This is one of the best budget hotels in Beijing that is next to the subway. The location is in southwest Beijing near the Xuanwumen subway station.
This three star hotel has good service, clean rooms, and is popular with foreign tourists. A standard room is 328 RMB, which is US $41. I would recommend this hotel to anybody who is looking for budget accomodations in Beijing.
Unique Quality: Aside from being right by the subway, the Yuexiu Hotel is also next to Kentucky Fried Chicken, SOGO department store, and Wal-Mart. The SOGO department store building also has an excellent food court upstairs and Italian gelato downstairs as well as a supermarket.
The Yuexiu hotel is also within walking distance of Liulichang and is across the street from a Catholic cathedral, so the location is very convenient for tourists.

Beijing's thrifty Hotel
The price was excellent, $120 Canadian for four nights during February. Service was pretty bad, as noone really wanted to help us. When we would ask a question, we would be passed from one person to the next, and rarely got a straight answer. Minibar was desolate. One can of juice and one bottle of water which were both extremly overpriced. Massage parlour was nice and a very reasonable price suprisingly. If looking for a cheap place to stay, relatively close to Tiannamen this is the one, but don't expect good service.
Unique Quality: The lobby was very nice, and beautifully decorated with lanterns for Chinese New Year. The view from the room was into a construction site, but you get what you pay for!!! In-house restauraunt was not very delicious, but we had expectations of what Chinese food is like in North America. In China it's not Chinese food, it's just food. So don't expect egg rolls or chicken balls!!!!
