My wife and I will be moving to Chongqing by Feb 2005. Could someone please advise me about the residential housing and hospitals in the area.
We have stayed in Guangzhou for about 2 years, but this is the first time I will be getting posted in this area.

Well, one thing the two cities both have is humid air. The city is divided into several parts by Yangtze River and Jialingjiang River. So you must make clear which zone are you going to stay before you choose the housing and other facilities.
It's a very famous mountain city.
If you approach this city by ship, you are absolutely caught by many local houses standing right on both riversides, following the form of land. Usually they are less than four stories and in traditional form.
Though they look quite old, even shabby, you may still feel the unique beauty in them.
This along with Shibaojai and the 3 gorges is a highlight of the trip. We anchored on the river and from the banks we were met by the local dujia tribesman. They have lived in the small creeks (tributeries) for centuries and their lives evolve around going downstream into the Yangtze to fish and returning upstream to their villages in the evening.
