We will be in Chongqing in september and want to go to Dazu Caves/Buddha,
I've found a lot of info on the web, but I cannot find if you can go by bus,
I think we need to book a tour?? Does someone know a good travel agency where I can book this trip, or a tip on how you visited Dazu from Chongqing? Look forward to your replies.
There is no bus to Dazu Caves directly. Travelers have to transfer at Dazu country. It is a little inconvenient. First you get bus at Chongqing Bus Station which lays at CaiYuanBa adjoining to the railway station. After getting to Dazu country, you should go to the old bus station about 1.3km far away. At the old bus station, there are bus to Dazu Caves. And you can choose taxi at here as it is not too far away to Dazu cave.
All of the travel agency can offer one day trip to Dazu Caves as it is a famous scenery spot of Chongqing. But If you need english guide, you'd better choose a big one.

I think hiring a guide is the better idea, and I normally wouldn't say that, being a photographer who travels mainly without guides! However, this excursion looks a little too complicated, even for me. Good luck whatever you decide! I'm certain it will be worth it.
well, it is true, there is no direct bus to the rock carvings. If you want to get an English speaking guide only, it costs around 300yuan per day. And with a van, would be around 800 from the airport to the cave then back to the city. If you want a car, it is around 700-750.
