Accommodation at Sanlongsha Yardan Geopark: Accommodation at Sanlongsha Yardan Geopark
There is basic accommodation at the Visitor Centre – actually in the rooms around the edge of the restaurant, which have a bed. I’m not sure about the washing and bathroom arrangements though. Cost is minimal. This would enable you to see the Yardan at sunset and sunrise which would be spectacular.
There are basic camp sites at several places inside the geopark and that would be even more impressive. These do not have water points though,sobring it with you.
You are in the middle of the desert!

Accommodation at the management offices: Accommodation at Yumenguan
It is possible to stay at the management offices of Yumenguan, just by the entrance. Accommodation is extremely basic....a bed in room, no A/C, no heating and a very, very basic tilet shared with everyone else (and no privacy). However, you do get to see sunset and suntrise at the Jade Gate. The management staff are very friendly and helpful and some of the local farmers drive or walk in some evening to watch TV.
It's an experience, and you will go away with lifelong friends and a sense of having done something very differently. There is also accommodation at the Sanlongsha Yardan Geopark to the west which is slightly more upmarket. OK a lot more upmarket!
Just ask at the management office to stay the night. Take fod with you if you don't book ahead.
You can arrange this al in advance through the team at the Dunhuang Tourism Bureau, who are a great bunch.
