Chinese drums.
by Guantanamera
After traversing the lake by boat, we arrived at a small, unknown island and came across this primitive pavilion, with big drums inside... There was no explanation as to why the drums were there... At least, not in English... But no explanation was needed... We immediately began drumming!
Water path.

In this image, the lovely Xiujuan poses next to a gentle stream that flows amidst the forest... We followed the path of the stream, making our way through the bushes and trees, certain that ahead, there would be something great...! Onwards and upwards...!
Qingyun Temple.

Pictured here is a huge dragon sculpture at the famed Qingyun Temple of Dinghu Shan... There are many fantastic artworks like this decorating the temple... This temple is very active, with monks in residence and many visitors worshipping at the site...
Waterfall.

At last! We reached Zion! This fantastic waterfall showering into the broad pool beneath it was once the favorite splash pool of one of China's most revered politicos! Not Zhou Enlai, not Zhao Ziyang, but the one and only Sun Yatsen, who overturned the imperial rule of the Manchus once and for all!
Zhaoqing.

A good base of operations for a visit to Dinghu Shan would be the nearby large city of Zhaoqing... Population approximately 3 1/2 million... Zhaoqing has all the modern conveniences you will need, such as ATM's, restaurants, and hotels... This photo shows me posing near the classic Cantonese-style gateway, not far from the famous lakes of Zhaoqing...
