Catch a ride in one of the mini buses, mostly non-airconditioned, which ply the city. Good opportunity to observe people in their daily commute and observe the fast changing skyline of Shenzhen as evident in the abundance of on-going road and buliding constructions. Note that Road signs going to tourist spots and within centre have English translations but this city is quite big that chances are the mini bus would pass thru other areas of the city without any English signs in sight! This is an exciting way to be lost as we experienced. A bit scary but Shenzhen folks are friendlier compared to their HK counterparts, it was heart-warming to see them try their best to understand and help us inspite of the language barrier. Inset, view of skyline while on a minibus although I have no idea what part of the city this is at.
Beijing food!
by Guantanamera
I don't know the name of this restaurant in English but if you can read Chinese, you should be able to make it out in the photo shown here... This place had very, very good Beijing style cuisine, and the standard Chinese furnishings with some wall designs evoking historical Beijing... Prices were very cheap and the quality of the food was not compromised...

"Transportation"
Plenty of public buses ply the downtown routes. The buses are one man operated therefor normal fare is 2 yuan and no change is given. There is also the subway with 2 main lines, howeever more lines are being developed.
Driving in the city can be horrendous due to limited parking ,traffic volume. Also bear in mind this is an old city hence the roads were built with little room to cope with the vechicle explosion.
