Mini trip from GZ-best place to go?

We will be in Guangzhou in February and I want to take a small trip (2-3 days) anywhere near Guangzhou to see some spectacular San Sui (nature) and eat some fresh seafood. Anybody have such a place to suggest? Thank you much!

You may try Zhaoqing, a city 90km away from Guangzhou. That's the best natural scenery in Guangdong Province I think.
Otherwise, you may take a 10 hours bus to Yangshuo.

Yup, I would second the recommendation of Zhaoqing. Yangshuo (http://www.yangers.com) would be even better, but it's also further away.

hello
if you want to see some nature of gz.you must pay attention to the weather and transportation in feb. it is windy and cold ,can't sit down and enjoy the secency outside. you can have some fresh seafood in some resturant near the pearl river,they are good and fresh,and you can enjoy the river secency too.

When you enter the area of this island, you might wrongly think that you are in the early 1900s. If the Bund is the proof of foreign power in Shanghai, the Shamian would be the one in Guangzhou. Buildings here are in Westerner style, even though a lot of them are not well maintained yet you can still find it fascinating.
A lot of new wed couples choose to take their wedding photo here; also you can find the best bakery in town in White Swan Hotel; Subway recalls me of my college life, and Starbucks here would be one of the main reason that I revisit. Please take a simple amble if the weather is good, and you will love the atmosphere.

Shantou is right by the sea. You can see almost in every restaurant that they have a lot of basins there. There are all kinds of sea food in the basins. They are very fresh and yes, also quite cheap! Don't miss sea food when you are in Shantou. SEA FOOD

A work trip to Hong Kong with a day trip in Guangzhou for factory visits.
Guangzhou is only a short trip from Hong Kong but it seems like a complete different world.
You see a family of 5 sitting on one motorbike travelling along the 'motorway', restaurant serving out-dated can of coke. and wherever you go you will get this strange stares.
If I do get the opportunity I would love to travel around China. China has some amazing scenic places!

A: "The best way is by train. Trains live with schedules. Trains have toilets. You can get up and walk around. You can get food on a train. I can't think of a better way..."
