Hi,
I would like to know something about the KCR line from Hong Kong to Quanzhou East, is this a direct train or do we need to change because I was wondering how and when the Chinese Visa is verified?
Thank you

Train from HK to Guangzhou
by Confucius
It's a direct train from Hung Hom to Guangzhou East Station. The China visa will be checked in Kowloon.
Quanzhou is in Fujian province. It's a nice town. See my Quanzhou page!

You go through customs before you board the train in Hong Kong IIRC.
BTW it's spelt Guangzhou not Quangzhou.

Yes, It is a direct train. You do not need to wait in line to go through immigration counter, custom clearance, as you go through the immigration counter in Hunghom, Hong Kong side and Guangzhou, China side, which they only cater to the passenger of the through train.

Different stalls housed in a building I got to buy cheap sweaters in a mall just outside the central bus station of Guangzhou. It seemed like outlet store of goods or stalls selling several goods. Be sure to have your RMB. HKD is also acceptable but it took a longer time for them to decide whether your money is counterfeit or not. Haggling is the name of the game here and a calculator comes in handy. Always punch in half the price they were asking except for those with price tags.

Guangzhou

Boy! Has this place grown over the years! The biggest city on the Pearl River Delta in southern China, Guangzhou is big, industrious, crowded and devoted to business. The Chen Clan Family Temple is interestins, as is the Six Banyan Pagoda, but really Guangzhou is the place in China to go if you love your food. A stroll through the market opposite Shamian Island is an eye opening experience as you observe an amazing array of produce, and which can send your olfactoy senses into a spin. Heaps of restaurants - haven't found a bad one yet.
