Travelling by train around GZ.

by groovergreen

Hello everyone. Does GZ have an easy-to-use local train service? For example, if I arrive at GZ East station on the KCR, can I connect to local lines that will take me downtown or to Shamian Island (where I will probably stay)? As I'll be there in hot, steamy August, I don't fancy really long walks ... and I'm not a fan of taxis.

Re: Travelling by train around GZ.

by ellyse is the official website for Guangzhou metro system, in English. Take line 1 from Guangzhou East Railway Station to Huangsha for 5 RMB, then walk. Shamian island is mostly closed to vehicular traffic.

Travel Tips for Guangzhou

China Mayors Plaza

by Guantanamera

China Mayors Plaza, located on Tian He Bei Lu, opposite the Tian He Stadium and adjacent to the CITIC Plaza (tallest building in Guangzhou), is an interesting architectural space, modeled partly after St. Peter's Square in the Vatican City, as can be seen in the circular arrangement of columns shown in the photo here... It also includes two gigantic shiny gold towers, a center for business and cafeteria...

Visit 'Windows of the World',...

by Mayonie

Visit 'Windows of the World', a themepark featuring famous landmarks of the world in miniature scale.
Fun for a day or just half a day's outing, test your photography skills and see how to catch the best angle to make you appear as posing beside the real the Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, Grand Canyons, Niagra Falls, etc. Inset, inside Windows of the World, Niagra Falls in background (1996).

Westernization and Tradition

by Citko

Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong, one of the cities opened in the earliest time in China. The Modern and Traditon are melting there.
You can see the young dressed in fashion , the high building, of course, the general problems in the big city in the world, the bad envirnonment-- polluted air, water...
But the food will leave you a good impression...
