Goldfish market

by t5776

Hi,

I was told that there's a large goldfish market/street in GZhou similar to the one in HK. Can anyone spare some info on this ? Also, how to go about it ?

TQ.

There was a street behind our hotel where there were a lot of people selling fish. Go to my Guangzhou page to find the hotel we stayed at. I have included a image of the map of the hotel but it may be too small for you to see.

Travel Tips for Guangzhou

The Grand World Scenarios...

by ErnieGal

The Grand World Scenarios Park : It takes only a few hours to travel round the 'world'. There you find natural sceneries, architectures, sculptures, folkways as well as recreational activities of all parts of the world. Typical folk structures of all countries are built in proportion of 1:1. They look like the real ones and people can enjoy the sights without going to the country themselves.

TAXI

by jlee008

An easy way to get around the city is by taxi. You can pretty much flag them down anywhere. The trick is to make sure that the taxi sign in the middle of the windshield is up, that means that they are available. If the sign is down, they are either off duty or have a customer already. You can find large concentrations of taxis at the bus station and in front of hotels.

If you don't know Chinese, I suggest you get a card from your hotel and then get the name of the place you want to go written in Chinese. This way you can show the driver where you specifically want to go. I found that having a map of Guangzhou is helpful as well, just to make sure they don't take you the scenic route!!

Damo at Guangxiao Si.

by Guantanamera

More amazingly, the first ancestor of Chan, the Indian Monk Damo (or Bodhidarma), also practiced here and according to legend built the ancient well (circa 527 A.D.) that you see in the photo shown here, just behind the two young Chinese girls that I met at the temple who offered to guide me... It is called the "Spring for washing the monk's alms bowl".
