1) What's your definition of "best" and where exactly are you going in Guangzhou? Are you on any time or financial constraint? Sorry, cheapest is probably also not the fastest!
3) Near the Guangzhou main train station.
4) Yes.
7) Preferably, yes. Fee is probably a few hundred RMB per day, depending on requirements and language ability.
thanks ellyse for the reply

The owner of this restaurant is from Vietnam but he was a French cook in France for a few years and received a few awards. Read about it in a newspaper here in Guangzhou. The food here is really good, one of the best restaurants that i have been to in this city. Prices start at about 30RMB for a plate and go to 120RMB. The higher prices that i saw were mainly for steaks. Snails were great and the pasta was wicked too.
The old China is called hutong. The rapid development has forced the country to build the new 'around' the old, thus creating a special situation of skyscrappers in front and when I looked out my hotel room window, I am literally watching families cook, eat and wash.
While walking around in Guangzhou, I saw this sign. We followed the sign only to find a Chinese restaurant. No brothel, no women soliciting...we have no idea what the sign meant.
